Multicompany planning

In a supply chain involving multiple logistic companies, there is a need for coordination between the planning activities of the various companies.

Multicompany planning can involve several aspects, such as:

  • Aggregation of planning data, in a centralized or in a decentralized multicompany environment.
  • Disaggregation of planning data, in a centralized or in a decentralized multicompany environment.
  • Passing on requirements between companies.
  • Carrying out a planning run for multiple companies at once, in the right order.

Multicompany aggregation and disaggregation

To aggregate data from several companies, and/or disaggregate data from a central location to several companies, you can do this by defining aggregation relationships. You can define these aggregation relationships in the Aggregation Relationships (cprpd3110m000) session.

Decentralized multicompany planning

If you want requirements to be passed on between companies, you can apply decentralized multicompany planning.

In decentralized multicompany planning, each company has its own planning runs, which are not coordinated centrally. Requirements are passed on between the various companies through the valid supplying relationships.

Centralized multicompany planning

If you want to coordinate the planning runs at various companies, and make sure that these planning runs are carried out in the right order, you need to apply centralized multicompany planning.

In centralized multicompany planning, you coordinate the planning from a multicompany scenario that is located in a central company. This multicompany scenario is linked to the corresponding local scenarios of each local company.

Note: Instead of placing the multicompany scenario in a separate central company, you can also define it in one of the local companies (in addition to the local scenario for that company).
