Configuration objects, configuration object sets, and export definitions

To import and export configuration data configuration objects, configuration object sets, and export definitions are used.

An export definition includes multiple configuration object sets. In turn, a configuration object set includes multiple configuration objects.

An export definition, the included configuration object sets, and the configuration objects included in the configuration sets constitute the data set that is to be imported or exported.

Configuration objects are the main, basic building blocks of a configuration data export or import. A configuration object represents one or more related database tables.

A configuration object is named after the main table. If multiple configuration objects refer to the same main table, the name of the configuration object is extended with a letter combination that represents the used data filter.

A configuration object set contains one or more configuration objects.

A configuration object set and the included configuration objects together form a logical set of configuration data. For example, a business process, an ad hoc configuration change, or a module of an LN package.

If possible, the configuration object set grouping and naming matches the LN main menu. This is to facilitate the handling and to improve the recognizability of the configuration object sets.
