Convert & Generate As-built Headers (bctti0201m000)

Use this session to create the As-Built Headers (timfc010) for production orders of serialized items. Serialized items are items that were Lot Controlled ‘by Unit’ in Baan IV.

Preparation

Before using this session make sure the JSC-parameters in LN for serials do have the desired settings. (JSC parameters, session: tisfc0500m000 – detail: tisfc0100s000, on the last tab, called “Serials”).

Execution

Mandatory if there are production orders for items, which are Lot Controlled ‘by Unit’.

Process logic

In Baan IV for items Lot Controlled ‘by Unit’, unique Lot Codes will be generated for each unit of enditem. This is done, while reporting completions on the production order. The ‘Lot by Unit’ concept of Baan IV is replaced with the ‘Serials’ concept in LN. The Lot Codes for ‘Lot by Unit’ items are converted into Serials by Warehouse during migration to LN. Afterwards, via this post-migration step, from these Serials by Warehouse (whltc500) the As-Built Headers (timfc010) will be created.

Additionally, for active production orders of Serialized items it is required to have the enditem serials present in the As-Built Header session (timfc0110m000) to be able to report completions on either operation- and order level. These ABH-serials (or: ABH’s) are normally generated in LN at a moment which is defined in the JSC-parameter ‘Moment of Generating Serials’. This can have the following values:

  • Manually
  • On Printing Documents
  • On Release
  • On Completion

Dependend on this parameter setting LN expects ABH’s being present. For example, if this Moment of Generating Serials is set to ‘On Release’, then for production orders with order status >= Released all ABH’s should be present, at least for the quantity ordered. This data will not be present in BaanIV, as Lot Codes will only be generated there after reporting quantities completed in Report Orders Completed. Therefore these ‘missing’ ABH’s must be generated during this post-migration step.

Note: The setup of masks is different in LN compared to Baan IV. In Baan IV one can define only one mask per {Standard/Customized/Both} / {Series}. LN does not distinguish between Standard or Customized. Instead one can define a Mask in Mask by Item/Item Group. This part has to be setup manually yet. Please refer to LINK to find out what steps have to be done exactly.

It is advised to run this session with option ‘Simulate’ checked first. In the report output you can find examples of Serial Numbers that will be generated during conversion. If the Masks are not correctly defined this will result in “ERROR” instead of a Serial Number. In this way it can easily be checked, if the Masks are setup properly in LN. This way it is also possible compare the migrated Serial Numbers with the generated Serial Numbers, in order to check if the Mask-definition results in the same number-layout.

As-Built consists of Headers (timfc010) together with the Components (timfc011) in LN. In the AB Components the Serial Numbers and/or Lot Codes of the Components can be registered. As this information is also not present in Baan IV, it is not useful to create AB Components (Serial Numbers/Lot Codes would be empty) for the migrated data.

Note:
  • the LN logic will normally create the AB Components.
  • After this post-migration, one may decide also to maintain the AB Components. To do so you can go to AB Headers (timfc0110m000), via Specific menu goto AB Components and there, via Specific menu choose ‘Generate Components’. This has to be done for each production order, for which you want to maintain AB Components also.

Duration

Warning: Execution of this session may take some time, because it will generate ABH’s for all Serials by Warehouse (whltc500) with Origin ‘Production’ and production order number filled and afterwards the ‘missing’ ABH’s yet have to be generated.

A progress indicator will be shown. Running this session with option ‘Simulate’ can give an impression of the time required. (The simulation can be cancelled after a certain percentage).

Restart

When you will restart this session, the process will start from the beginning and previous data will NOT be overwritten. So, if you want to overwrite, you have to empty the timfc010 and –011 tables yourself before the restart.
