Disposition orders and ITU consumptions

The specified disposition determines the type of disposition order that is created and determines whether the disposition order is completed manually or automatically. In this topic, the creation and completion of disposition orders, and the consumption of quarantine ITUs is discussed.

Scrap

When a disposition of type Scrap is processed, the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the disposition line or lines are selected and an automatic adjustment order is created that removes the scrapped items from inventory.

Also, a quarantine ITU consumption is created that is filled with the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the scrapped inventory.

The ITU consumption record shows the scrapped quantities.

In the corresponding quarantine ITU, the consumed quantity is increased and the available quantity is reduced.

Use as Is and No Fault Found

When a disposition of type Use As Is or No Fault Found is processed, LN complete these steps:

  1. Select the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the disposition line or lines.
  2. Depending on parameter settings, take one of these actions:
    • Create receipt procedure and automatically confirm and put away.
    • Create inbound advice and automatically confirm and put away. If no warehouse locations apply, unblock the quarantined items.

See Process quarantine inventory - use as is/no fault found for details.

  3. Create a quarantine ITU consumption and fill it with the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the inventory that is used as is.

The ITU consumption record shows the consumed quantities that are used as is.

  4. In the corresponding quarantine ITU, increase the consumed quantity and reduce the available quantity accordingly.
  5. A standard ITU receipt and a standard ITU is created for the inventory that is consumed from the quarantine ITU and put away in the standard inventory.

Return to Vendor

When a disposition of type Return to Vendor is processed, these steps are completed:

  1. Automatically select the quarantine ITU receipt detail lines that match the disposition line or lines.
  2. Automatically create a purchase return order. For details, see Process quarantine inventory - return to vendor.
  3. Approve and release purchase return order to Warehousing. Parameter settings determine whether these steps are performed manually or automatically.
  4. Automatically create a quarantine ITU consumption and fill it with the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the inventory that is returned to the vendor.
  5. Display the quantities to be returned in the To be Consumed Quantity field of the consumption record and the corresponding quarantine ITU when the outbound order line related to the purchase return order is picked.

Manual selection of the available quarantine ITUs is required if multiple matching quarantine ITUs are available. For disposition orders, only quarantine ITUs are available for selection.

Parameter settings determine whether ITU selection is required during picking outbound advice or confirm shipment. See ITU selection for details.

  6. Display the quantities to be returned in the Consumed Quantity field of the consumption record when the shipment of the outbound order line related to the purchase return order is confirmed.

Manual selection of the available quarantine ITUs is required if multiple matching quarantine ITUs are available. For disposition orders, only quarantine ITUs are available for selection.

Parameter settings determine whether ITU selection is required during picking outbound advice or confirm shipment. See The inventory-tracking consumption selection process for details.

  7. In the corresponding quarantine ITU, increase the consumed quantity and reduce the available quantity when the outbound order line related to the purchase return order is shipped.

Rework to new or Existing specification

When a disposition of type Rework (to New Specification) or Rework (to Existing Specification) is processed, these steps are completed:

  1. Automatically select the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the disposition line or lines.
  2. Automatically create a production rework order. For details, see Process quarantine inventory – rework.
  3. Release the production rework order and initiate inventory issue. Parameter settings determine whether these steps are performed manually or automatically.
  4. Display the quantities to be reworked in the To be Consumed Quantity field of the consumption record and the corresponding quarantine ITU when the outbound order line related to the production rework order is picked.

Manual selection of the available quarantine ITUs is required if multiple matching quarantine ITUs are available. For disposition orders, only quarantine ITUs are available for selection.

Parameter settings determine whether ITU selection is required during picking outbound advice or confirm shipment. SeeThe inventory-tracking consumption selection process for details.

  5. Display the quantities to be reworked in the Consumed Quantity field of the quarantine ITU consumption record.

  6. In the corresponding quarantine ITU, increase the consumed quantity and reduce the available quantity when the outbound order line related to the production rework order is shipped.

Reclassify

When a disposition of type Rework (to New Specification) or Rework (to Existing Specification) is processed, these steps are completed:

  1. Automatically select the quarantine ITU receipt details that match the disposition line or lines.

  2. Automatically create an intra-warehousing transfer order. For details, see Process quarantine inventory – reclassify.

  3. When the outbound order line of the transfer order is picked:

    1. Display the quantities to be reclassified in the Consumed field of the quarantine ITU consumption record.

    2. In the corresponding quarantine ITU, increase the consumed quantity and reduce the available quantity.

Manual selection of the available quarantine ITUs is required if multiple matching quarantine ITUs are available. For disposition orders, only quarantine ITUs are available for selection.

See The inventory-tracking consumption selection process for details.

      Note:

This is because there is no shipment procedure for intra-warehousing transfer orders.

  4. Receive the inbound transfer order line and create an ITU receipt and ITU for the received items. These are standard ITU receipts and ITUs since they are received in the standard (non-quarantine) inventory.

    Note:

The inbound transfer order line contains the reworked item.

Unshipped processed disposition quantities

If an outbound order line for a purchase return, production rework, or intra-warehouse transfer is cancelled or set to Not Shipped (fully or partially), the related disposition lines and quarantine ITUs are updated:

  • If cancelled or fully Not Shipped:

    • The disposition is reset to Awaiting Disposition, the Disposition Order field is cleared.
    • The quarantine ITU consumption record is removed.
    • In the quarantine ITU, the not-shipped quantity is added to the available quantity and subtracted from the consumed quantity.
  • If partially Not Shipped:

    • The not-shipped quantity is subtracted from the disposition quantity of the disposition line and a new disposition line with status Awaiting Disposition is created for the not-shipped quantity.
    • In the quarantine ITU, the not-shipped quantity is added to the available quantity and reduced from the consumed quantity.
