Outline of inventory tracking for quarantine inventory

During quarantine handling, the country of origin and the inventory tracking data of the quarantined inventory must be maintained if the global trade concept Country of Origin is implemented.

When inventory is sent to quarantine, LN creates a quarantine ID or adds the inventory to an existing quarantine ID. You cannot manually create quarantine IDs.

A quarantine ID consists of a header and one or more disposition lines. LN creates a disposition line for each rejected stock point.

Simultaneously, LN creates a quarantine ITU and a quarantine ITU receipt for each country of origin assigned to the quarantined inventory. If more than one stock point is involved, a quarantine ITU receipt and a corresponding receipt detail line is also created for each stock point.

The countries of origin are assigned to the inventory when it is rejected and sent to quarantine in these processes:

  • Inbound inspection
  • Inventory inspection
  • Outbound inspection
  • Production, when rejecting an item upon completing an operation.

In inbound inspection INB0014, 60 items A with country of origin India and 40 items A with country of origin Japan are rejected and sent to quarantine.

Consequently, LN creates these records:

  • Quarantine ID QUA0010
  • Disposition line 1, because the rejected items are part of the same stock point.
  • Quarantine ITU 001 and quarantine ITU receipt 001, country of origin India, received quantity 60 items A.
  • Quarantine ITU 002 and quarantine ITU receipt 002, country of origin Japan, received quantity 40 items A.

When dispositions are specified for the disposition lines, the dispositions are updated to the detail lines of the corresponding quarantine ITU receipt.

This is done automatically or manually. See Quarantine dispositions and inventory tracking and Handling dispositions and countries of origin for details.

When a disposition is processed, a disposition order is created.

After the inbound, outbound, or adjustment process of the disposition order is launched, quarantine ITUs are selected for consumption, and the quarantined inventory is moved out of quarantine.

The type of disposition determines the type of disposition order that is created and the type of process by which the inventory is moved out of quarantine.

See Processing quarantine dispositions and inventory tracking data and Disposition orders and ITU consumptions for details.

Quarantine ITUs, quarantine ITU receipts, and quarantine ITU consumptions

Quarantine ITUs, quarantine ITU receipts, and quarantine ITU consumptions are used to register inbound movements, outbound movements, and storage of quarantined inventory. They are distinguished from standard ITUs, receipts, and consumptions by having the Quarantine Inventory check box selected.

Dispositions and disposition quantities are maintained by country of origin in the quarantine ITU receipt detail lines of a quarantine ITU receipt in theInventory Tracking Quarantine Receipt Details (tcitu2115m120) session. This session is displayed as the Details tab of the Quarantine Inventory (tcitu1620m000) session. See Handling dispositions and countries of origin for details.

Quarantined inventory is unavailable for inventory movements involved in regular order handling, such as inbound advice, outbound advice, or shipments.

When inventory is rejected and sent to quarantine, it is registered as consumed inventory in the standard ITUs and as received inventory in the quarantine ITUs.

After processing, the disposition determines how the quarantined inventory is registered in the standard inventory tracking units. See Create or update inventory tracking units in the receipt process for details.
