Compliance product data management

The compliance data can be created in PLM to manage multiple environmental, legal, and customer specific compliance requirements at both Item and Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) levels.

The solution enables organizations to configure new compliance regulations, link them to item compliance categories, track substance level information for items, and evaluate compliance across assemblies using a structured roll up mechanism.

Your concept

The compliance categories

The Compliance Category (pdpcd0601m000) session defines product specific categories that determine which compliances apply to a PLM Item or MPN.

The categories include:

  • Electronic Component
  • Mechanical Component
  • Accessory Item
  • Purchased Assembly
  • Packaging Material

These categories are used as filters and form the basis for automated compliance assignment.

Based on the selected compliance category in the PLM Item, applicable compliances are automatically associated with the item.

Compliance by category mapping

Using the Compliance by Category (pdpcd0102m100) session, you can link multiple compliance standards to each category.

Examples include:

  • Electronic Component → RoHS, REACH, PFAS
  • Mechanical Component → REACH, POP
  • Packaging Material → PFAS, WEEE

Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) compliance management

The Manufacturer Part Number (pdpdm1640m000) session provides manufacturer specific compliance capabilities which includes:

  • MPN BOM – manufacturer-defined bill of materials
  • MPN Document – certification documents, datasheets, or compliance evidence
  • MPN Compliance – compliance data linked to the MPN

Substances

You can define substances using the Item Substance (pdpdm1137m000) session that enables detailed material and chemical tracking and supports regulation driven reporting such as REACH SVHC or RoHS substance limits, Exemptions, and CAS number .

Compliance roll-up evaluation

A bottom up compliance calculation evaluates the overall compliance status of PLM Items and assemblies using the Compliance Product Data (pdpdm1400m500) session.

The roll up logic ensures:

  • Generating compliance reports for selected items and structures.
  • An item is marked compliant only if all its components are compliant.
  • Any non-compliant component results in the parent assembly being non compliant.
