Bulk File Upload (Adaptive UI)

The Bulk File Upload (Adaptive UI) workbench enables users to bulk import the files (provided by 3rd party) into the application. The primary purpose is to:

  • Import the corresponding design files of the PLM Items data that are imported using the Import Redlining Workbench
  • Create system documents and files based on the Excel input.
  • Attach imported files to PLM Items, with or without ECO association.

Excel file format

Each row in the Excel file represents one file record, using this structure:

ITEM, ItemID, Revision, FilePath, FILE, ItemDescription

Example:

  • ITEM, P00010, B, C:/files/a1.pdf, FILE, Pump
  • ITEM, P00011, X, C:/files/b1.pdf, FILE, Turbine
Note: The fifth column value FILE indicates the attachment type.

Handling ECO

The application determines the attachment behavior based on revision information:

  • If the object type is ITEM and a revision is specified in parentheses ( ), the item is associated with an Engineering Change Order (ECO). In this case, the system creates a document and an associated file and attaches them as a redlining attachment to the corresponding PLM item undergoing the ECO. If multiple redlining attachments exist (that is, multiple ECOs), the attachment is associated with the affected item of the most recent ECO.
  • If the revision is not specified in parentheses ( ), the item is not associated with an ECO. In this case, the system creates a document and an associated file and attaches them directly to the corresponding PLM item.

Using bulk upload

To initiate the import process:

  1. Select the excel file containing details of files to be imported.
  2. Select the directory where the files are present.
  3. Click Upload. The bulk file upload process starts.

Error messages

This section displays system-generated messages during upload operations and includes validation errors and processing issues.

Note: 
  • The Excel file structure must strictly follow the defined format.
  • The Messages section must be reviewed after upload, to verify success or validate errors.
