Compare Product Structure (Adaptive UI)

The Compare Product Structure (Adaptive UI) (pdpdm8101m300) workbench enables you to compare two items by displaying the structural, attribute, and CAD differences side by side. The screen is divided into multiple sections to support detailed comparison and analysis.

To access the workbench, perform these steps:

  1. Access the PLM Items (pdpdm1500m000) session.
  2. Select the required items which you must compare.
  3. Select the Compare Product Structure (Adaptive UI) option from the Actions menu.

    The Compare Product Structure (pdpdm1275m000) session is displayed.

  4. Click Compare to view the Compare Product Structure (Adaptive UI) (pdpdm8101m300) session.
The workbench consists of three main sections:
  • Header section
  • Item structure comparison section
  • Messages section

Header section

In this section, you can view basic details of the items being compared. You can also view the contextual information required before reviewing the structural differences.

The Header section also contains these check boxes:

  • CAD Viewer: If this check box is selected, you can view the CAD design comparison section. When enabled, the middle section is vertically split:
    • Selection in the tree highlights the corresponding CAD design.
    • Upper half displays item structures.
    • Lower half displays CAD representations of the corresponding structures. CAD representations are displayed using embedded CAD viewers.
  • Sync Viewers: If this check box is selected, the actions across all CAD viewers is synchronized. Selecting an item in the left tree automatically selects the corresponding item in the right tree, and vice versa.
    Note: This check box is enabled only if the CAD Viewer check box is selected.

Item structure comparison section

In this section, you can view differences between the two selected items, side by side. The item tree structure is displayed and for each item in the structure, these values are displayed (if defined):

  • Category: Indicates differences in classification information. The Item Classification Data Comparison window is displayed when you click the Arrow icon in the corresponding Category Name column. See, Item Classification Data Comparison.
  • Reference Designators: Indicates differences in reference designator information for BOM lines. The Reference Designators Data Comparison window is displayed when you click the Arrow icon in this column. See, Reference Designators Data Comparison.
  • Items Manufacturer Data: Indicates differences in item manufacturer information. The Item Manufacturer Data Comparison window is displayed when you click the Arrow icon in this column. See, Item Manufacturer Data Comparison.

These options are available in this section:

  • Show Differences Only: Displays only the items for which there is a difference in the item data.
  • Expand All: Expands the tree structure to display all items in the structure
  • Collapse all: Collapses the tree structure to display only the parent item in the structure.

Message section

This section displays error and system messages generated during operations.
