Defining default warehousing order types by order origin

In the Default Order Types by Origin (whinh0120m000) session, you can define default warehousing order types for order origins and specify whether shipments must be generated.

If you link a warehousing order type to an order origin, the warehousing order type is the default warehousing order type for warehousing orders generated from orders of the order origin to which the warehousing order type is linked, and consequently, the warehousing procedure of the warehousing order type applies to the warehousing orders.

At the most general level, a warehousing order type is linked to an order origin, an inventory transaction type, and a ship-from and a ship-to type. Consequently, the warehousing order type is the default warehousing order type for warehousing orders generated for orders of the selected order origin, transaction type, and ship-from and ship-to type.

For example, you can define a default order type for order origin ASC Production, transaction type Receipt, ship-from type Work Center, and ship-to type Warehouse to receive items coming off the assembly line into the warehouse.

At a more detailed level, you can specify a ship-from and/or a ship-to site. If you specify a ship-from site in the example, the warehousing order type is the default order type for the items produced in the work centers of the specified site. If you specify a ship-to site, the warehousing order type is the default order type for items received into the warehouses of the specified site.

At the most detailed level, you can specify a specific ship-from or ship-to code. If you specify a specific work center and/or warehouse in the example, the warehousing order type is the default order type for items for items produced in the specified work center and received in the specified warehouse.

The example shows a default warehousing order type for an order origin and ship-from and ship-to types for inventory transaction type Receipt. For the other available inventory transaction types, other ship-from and ship-to types are available. Manual and non-manual warehousing orders

The default warehousing order types by origin defined in the Default Order Types by Origin (whinh0120m000) session are used for all manually created warehousing orders and some warehousing orders generated from orders created in packages other than Warehousing.

For warehousing orders generated from orders created in packages other than Warehousing, LN retrieves the warehousing order type in this way:

  • If the order origin is Purchase or Purchase Schedule and the order origin has a purchase order type to which a warehousing order type is linked, LN retrieves this warehousing order type for the warehousing order. You can link a warehousing order type to a purchase order type in the Purchase Order Types (tdpur0194m000) session.
  • If the order origin is Sales or Sales Schedule and the order origin has a sales order type to which a warehousing order type is linked, LN retrieves this warehousing order type for the warehousing order. You can link a warehousing order type to a sales order type in the Sales Order Types (tdsls0594m000) session.
  • If no warehousing order type is specified in the above mentioned cases, the warehousing order type is determined by the warehousing order type specified for the inventory transaction type. The default warehousing order type for each inventory-transaction type is specified in the Default Order Types by Origin (whinh0120m000) session.

For example, if a warehousing order type is specified for a purchase order type in the Purchase Order Types (tdpur0194m000) session, the settings for order origin Purchase defined in the Default Order Types by Origin (whinh0120m000) session are not used.
