Using internal work orders for rental

You can create an internal work order for a rental product or rental equipment that requires to be modified or serviced for a specific project. This internal work order can be linked to an external project, enabling easy monitoring of the costs.

To use an internal work order for rental:

  1. Access the Work Order (tswcs2100m100) session.
  2. Create a work order and link work order activities, material resource lines, and other resource lines to the work order using the satellite sessions.
  3. Specify a serialized or an anonymous rental product or a rental equipment in the Item field.
  4. Specify an external project and an activity in the Project Pegging section.
    Note: An external project is a project that is linked to a contract.
  5. Select the Plan Order option. The status of the work order is set to Planned.
  6. Select the Related Orders option from the References menu. The Related Orders (tsmdm4500m000) session is displayed.
  7. Select the Status Overview option in the Related Orders (tsmdm4500m000) session. The Outbound Line Status Overview (whinh2129m000) session is displayed.
  8. Select the Generate Outbound Advice option from the Actions menu in the Outbound Line Status Overview (whinh2129m000) session.
    Note: You can select the Automatic check box in the Activities by Outbound Order Line (whinh2124m000) session to process the order line activities automatically.
  9. Select the Item Receipt option in the Logistic section to receive the item for maintenance. The actual receipt date and time of the item is displayed in the Actual Item Receipt Time field.
  10. Access the Work Order Activity (tswcs2610m000) session to create resource lines for the work order activity lines. You can specify the cost component for each resource, which is used to map the costs in Service with Project. For more information, refer to Cost object mapping with Service.
  11. Access the Work Order (tswcs2100m100) session and select the Release Order option to release the work order and the lines linked to the order.
  12. Select the Complete Order option from the Actions menu to process the order. The Complete Work Order (tswcs2240m000) session is displayed.
  13. Access the Work Order Activity (tswcs2610m000) session and select the Sign off option from the Actions menu to complete the activities related to the order.
    Note: You can close the work order only if the linked activities are signed off.
