Variation requests for scope documents

The scope of a contract changes often during the lifecycle of the contract. Controlled and traceable updates to the scope are essential. After you activate a scope document, you cannot modify the scope document.

A variation request allows you to modify the amount, quantity, or rate of an active scope document. You can use variation requests to ensure all scope changes are accurately reflected in billing and reporting. You can also create new scope document lines using a variation request.

You can create variation requests for a scope document before or after the scope document is released to AFP. After this variation request is approved and processed, the related transactions are updated for the scope document and AFP.
