This code is generated, based on the value of the Product Variant Number Group field in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0100s000) session.

You can also configure product variants that contain purchased configurable items. You can use a configurable item to create a item structure that can hold a configurable purchased sub-assembly. The purchased sub-assembly is issued at the assembly line like other assembly parts.

Item

Note: If the Item Type Product concept is not active in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session, you can use an item of the type, Manufactured.

This is the generic item that is specified on the sales order line in the Sales Order Lines (tdsls4101m000) session.

The item must have the following characteristics:

  • The item type must have item type Product or Manufacturedwith the order system FAS.
  • The item must be a serialized item
  • The item must have ordering data
  • The Default Supply Source must be set to Assembly

These characteristics are defined in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session, the Items - Ordering (tcibd2100m000) session, and the source in the Items by Site (tcibd1550m000) session.

You can also configure product variants that contain purchased configurable items. You can use a configurable item to create a item structure that can hold a configurable purchased sub-assembly. The purchased sub-assembly is issued at the assembly line like other assembly parts.

Note: You can also use this functionality for a generic item. To maintain an item of the type, Generic in inventory, you must define two items to represent the same physical item: a generic item that you use in Assembly Control and a standard item that you use in Warehousing .
