Inventory tracking by receipt means that the receipt line by which the inventory was originally put away, and, consequently, the receiving legal entity acquired ownership, is registered on the inventory tracking unit.
Registering the initial receipt line has these consequences:
- A new inventory tracking receipt and inventory tracking unit is created for each receipt line.
- For subsequent transfers of the receipt line without ownership change, the link to the initial receipt remains available.
Allowed values
- Yes
-
The receipt line by which the inventory was originally put away, and, consequently, the receiving legal entity acquired ownership, is registered on the inventory tracking unit.
- No
-
The receipt line by which the inventory was originally put away is not registered on the inventory tracking unit. Consequently, multiple receipt lines can be consolidated on the inventory tracking receipt and inventory tracking unit, and the initial receipt is not preserved during subsequent transfers of the inventory.

If an inventory tracking unit is selected before picking, it is printed on the picking list and the outbound advice.
This is required if items with specific countries of origin must be issued.
- Confirm Picking
-
The inventory tracking units are selected for consumption when the picking list is confirmed. If picking lists are no part of the outbound procedure, the inventory tracking units must be selected when the outbound advice is released.
This is used when it is not required to pick items with a specific country of origin, or if all items in storage have the same country of origin.

Registering the initial receipt line has these consequences:
- A new inventory tracking receipt and inventory tracking unit is created for each receipt line.

- Options
-
- Physical Traceability Required
-
If this check box is selected, inventory tracking data must be visible on the physical items, for example, on a label attached to the item.
This is required when items produced in different countries are stored in the same warehouse. For example, item A is produced in China, India, and Germany, and item A is stored in warehouse ABC regardless of the country of origin.
When items A are picked, the items must be checked individually to ensure that items with the correct country of origin are issued. Consequently, the inventory tracking units must be manually selected for consumption.
This check box is selected and cannot be edited for the Country of Origin concept, except for cost and service items, that is, items for which the Inventory Item check box is cleared in the inventory tracking sessions relating to inbound and outbound movements.
- Blocking Definition
-
- Blocking Definition
-
The blocking definition that is used when the country of origin is not specified at the blocking stage specified in the Blocking Phase field in the current session.
Blocking definitions are not mandatory. If no blocking definition is defined, you must specify the country of origin when you put away the inventory in storage.
Note: If the order procedure of the actual order does not contain an activity that is identical to the specified blocking phase, the order process is blocked at the nearest equivalent. For example, the order procedure of a warehouse transfer does not have the Release to Warehousing step. Therefore, if blocking phase Release would apply to a warehouse transfer, the block would be imposed when the receipt is confirmed. For details, see Blocking definitions.
