Departments (tcemm1124m000)

Use this session to view and maintain the department's enterprise modeling data.

Note: You can use the Add to Serviceoption to assign a second role for the department as Service department. The Add to Service option is enabled only for work centers if the Department Subtype is set to Job Shop Work Center. This option is also used for sales offices and purchase offices.

Field Information

Operational Company

The operational company to which the department belongs.

Department Type

The department type determines the types of orders and transactions that the department can control.

Allowed values

Sales Office: Sales office
Project Management Office: Project management office. A project management office cannot be considered a service department, that is, the Add to Service option is not applicable.
Purchase Office: Purchase office
Service Office: Service department
Work Center: Work center
Production Department: Production department
Accounting Office: Accounting office
Shipping Office: Shipping office
Inventory Management Department: Inventory management department

Department Subtype

The type of work center used for Job Shop, Repetitive Manufacturing or Assembly.

Note:

By default, the value is set to Not Applicable.
These Station Types are displayed when the Department Type is set to a value other than Work Center:
- Work Center
- Sub Work Center
- Subcontracting
- Costing
- Buffer
Line Station is displayed, if:
- The Department Type is set to Work Center.
- If the Assembly- Single Location check box is selected on the Modules tab in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.
Work Cell is displayed, if:
- The Department Type is set to Work Center.
- The Repetitive Manufacturing (RPT) check box is selected on the Modules tab in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.
Repair Cell is displayed, if:

Assembly Cell is displayed, if:
- The Department Type is set to Work Center.

- The Department Type is set to Work Center.
- The Assembly Multi Location check box is selected on the Modules tab in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.
Calendar Code is displayed if the Station Type is set to a value other than these options:

- Buffer
- Assembly Cell
- Costing
- Calculation Office
Availability Type is displayed if the Station Type is set to a value other than these options:
- Line Station
- Buffer

Labor Rate Code is displayed if the Station Type is set to a value other than Calculation Office.

Enterprise Unit

The enterprise unit to which the department is assigned. The financial transactions that result from the orders handled by the department are posted to the financial company that is linked to the department's enterprise unit.

Note:

Once you have set up the multicompany structure, you cannot change the existing links between key entities, enterprise units, and financial companies, for the following reasons:

In many countries it is illegal to change the enterprise units because this affects the financial reporting of profits and loss.
Technically, it is only possible to change the enterprise unit if there are no open entries for the enterprise unit. For performance reasons, LN does not check the complete database for open entries, but always assumes that open entries exist.
