Blocking definitions

Blocking definitions are used to block the inbound process if the country of origin has not been specified.

You can block the inbound process at these stages:

  • Order entry

The inbound process is blocked if the country of origin is not specified after specifying and saving the purchase order.

  • Release to Warehousing

The inbound process is blocked if the country of origin is not specified after releasing the purchase order to Warehousing.

  • Receipt

The inbound process is blocked if the country of origin is not specified after the receipt of the warehousing order of the purchase order is confirmed.

Blocking definitions are specified for the overall environment or by country in the Blocking Definition field of the Inventory Tracking Parameters (tcitu0100m100) and Inventory Tracking Parameters by Country (tcitu0110m000) sessions.

If a blocking definition is effective and you try to proceed without specifying the country of origin, a warning is displayed.

To lift the block at the order entry stage, complete either of these steps:

  • Specify the expected or actual country of origin on the purchase order line.
  • Manually overrule the block in the Purchase Order (Line) Blockings (tdpur4120m000) session. Note that the block is overruled, but the country of origin is not specified on the purchase order line.

Overruling is only allowed for authorized users.

To lift the block at the Receipt or the Release to Warehousing stage, specify the country of origin in theInventory Tracking Receipts (tcitu2110m000) session.

After specifying the country of origin, you can continue the inbound process.

If the order procedure of the actual order does not contain an activity that is identical to the specified blocking phase, the order process is blocked at the nearest equivalent.

For example, the order procedure of a warehouse transfer does not have the Release to Warehousing step. The nearest equivalent of a warehouse transfer order is the confirm receipt step.

Therefore, if blocking phase Release would apply to a warehouse transfer, the block would be imposed when the receipt is confirmed.

If the country of origin is removed again after a block was lifted, or the block was overruled by an authorized user without specifying the country of origin, a new block is imposed when the receipt is confirmed.

For example, if you lifted a block at the Order entry stage or the Release to Warehousing stage but the country of origin was removed from the inventory tracking receipt for some reason, a new block is imposed if the country of origin is not specified when the receipt is confirmed.
