Reference Activities

The use of reference activities is available for Mobile Service integrating with LN 10.6 and higher versions, as well as with LN CE. To enable this functionality, the Authorized to Use Reference Activities option must be selected in the Service User Template (tsmdm1660m000).

A reference activity in Mobile Service is used as a template for generating tasks, materials, tools, other cost and inspections for an activity. The reference activity is also used to set default values for some activity fields.

You can specify a reference activity when adding an activity to a visit. You can specify any reference activity as defined in LN that has the Activity Use value Field Service or General.

Note: By specifying a reference activity, a few activity field values are defaulted based on the reference activity.

When saving the activity actual costs like tasks (labor), materials, tools, and other costs are generated based on the resource requirements as defined for the reference activity in LN. When a serialized item is specified for the activity, inspections for the serialized item are generated based on Measurement Types as defined for the reference activity in LN.

You can change the reference activity of the activity as long as the activity is not synchronized with LN and you did not change, confirm or complete any of the created resource requirements. When changing the reference activity the generated cost lines and inspections are replaced accordingly.

Note: The generated cost lines are actual costs and actual inspections. They must be completed or confirmed before they are synchronized with LN.
