To set up general subcontracting data

This topic provides step-by-step instructions for the setup of general subcontracting data. See General subcontracting data setup for an overview of the general subcontracting data.

To set up general subcontracting data, complete these steps:

  1. Resources by Site activated

Check that the Resources by Site concept is set to Active in the Enterprise Structures tab of the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.

If the status other than Active, the concept must be activated. See the Infor LN User Guide for Site Activation for details.

  2. Address codes
Define address codes for the production sites and the subcontractor locations in the Addresses (tccom4530m000) session.
  3. Planning clusters

Preferably, define external planning clusters for subcontractor sites in the Planning Clusters (tcemm1135m000) session. This is to make subcontractors available for production sites that belong to different planning clusters.

Select the External, Holds Subcontractor Sites, and Exclude From Enterprise Planning check boxes for the external planning cluster.

    See Multisite overview for details.

  4. Calendar codes
Define calendar codes for both the subcontractor and the production sites in the Calendar Working Hours (tcccp0120m000) session.
  5. Enterprise units

Enterprise units are defined in the Enterprise Units (tcemm0130m000) session. Link the production sites and the subcontractor sites to the same enterprise unit if they are located in the same country.

If located in different countries, define an enterprise unit for each country.

This is required because taxation and other rules can be different in each country and invoicing relations must be set up. For details about enterprise units, see Enterprise units .

  6. Subcontractors

A subcontractor is defined as a business partner with a buy-from role and a subcontractor ID. The ID of the buy-from business partner is used as the subcontractor ID.

To define a subcontractor, complete these steps:

    1. In the Business Partners (tccom4500m000) and the Business Partner (tccom4100s000) session, define business partners with buy-from roles; these represent the subcontractors.

    2. In the Subcontractors (tisub0120m000) session, define the subcontractor ID by zooming to the Buy-from Business Partners (tccom4520m000) session.

  7. Subcontractor sites

In the Site (tcemm0650m000) session, complete these steps:

    1. Specify the ID and the name of the subcontractor site.

    2. Preferably, select an external planning cluster.

    3. Specify or zoom to select the applicable calendar code.

    4. Specify or zoom to select the applicable address code.

    5. In the External Relations tab, select the Subcontractor Site check box.

If you selected an external planning cluster previously, this check box is selected automatically. If this check box is selected, the External Site check box is selected automatically.

    6. Specify or zoom to select a subcontractor. See step 6 on how to define subcontractors.

    7. Define warehouse settings for the site by clicking Warehousing in the Settings tab.

      Complete these steps:

      1. Click Yes when prompted to define warehouse settings.

      2. In the Warehousing Settings by Site (whwmd2101m000) session, specify the settings for the subcontractor warehouse as needed. By default, the Use Global Warehousing Parameters check box is selected when defining the warehouses.

    8. Define procurement settings for the site by clicking Procurement in the Settings tab.

      Complete these steps:

      1. Click Yes when prompted to define procurement settings.

      2. In the Procurement Settings by Site (tdpur0111m000)session, specify the procurement settings as needed.

    9. Define the warehouse of the subcontractor site

To define the subcontractor warehouse, click the New button on the toolbar of the Warehouses tab in the lines section of the Site (tcemm0650m000) session. This starts the Warehouses (whwmd2500m000) session. By default, the subcontractor site and the enterprise unit are specified and the Use Site Settings check box is selected.

In the Warehouses (whwmd2500m000) session, specify the subcontractor warehouse and the settings for the subcontractor warehouse as needed.

For subcontracting warehouses, no locations are needed, because the inventory movements at the subcontractor site are not closely monitored; but they may be needed for the production warehouses.

  8. Production sites

For the production site, no external settings are needed. On the Settings tab, define settings for Procurement, Sales, Warehousing, and Production as needed. These are not discussed in this topic, because specific settings for subcontracting are not needed for the production sites. For details on defining sites, see Setting up a multisite structure within a company.

    Add departments as needed.

For details, see Defining entities for sites. In this topic only the definition of the subcontracting work center is discussed, because this is the only department that is specifically used in subcontracting. See the next step.

  9. Subcontracting workcenters

To link subcontractor sites to subcontractors, complete these steps:

    1. In the Departments tab in the lines section of the Site (tcemm0650m000) session, on the toolbar, click the New button and select Department type: Work Center and Work Center Type: Subcontracting.

    2. Specify the work center ID and description and keep the default site unchanged. For the subcontracting work center, the production department is empty.

  10. Subcontracting relationships

Define the relationships between the production sites and the subcontractor sites.

This is done by linking subcontractor sites to subcontractors and production sites to subcontractor sites.

To link subcontractor sites to subcontractors, complete these steps:

    1. In the Subcontractors (tisub0120m000) session, select a subcontractor and open the record.

On the toolbar of the Subcontractor Locations tab in the lines section of the Subcontractor (tisub0620m000) details session, click New.

Specify a subcontractor site or zoom to the Sites (tcemm0150m000) session to select a subcontractor site.

To link a production site to subcontractor location, that is, the combination of subcontractor and the newly added subcontractor site, complete these steps:

    1. Open the newly added subcontractor site.

    2. On the Used by Site tab in the lines section of the Subcontractor Location (tisub0625m000) session that opens, click the New button.

    3. Specify the production site that uses the subcontractor or zoom to the Sites (tcemm0150m000) session to select the production site.

    4. Specify the transportation time or use the default Derived setting. Derived means that the transportation time is calculated based on the distance between the addresses of warehouse of the production site and the warehouse of the subcontractor site.

The distances between addresses are defined in the Distance Table by ZIP Code/Postal Code (tccom4538m000) and the Distance Table by City (tccom4537m000) sessions.

  11. Subcontractor warehouse
On the subcontractor warehouses tab of the Subcontractor Location (tisub0625m000) session, by default the subcontractor warehouse defined in step 7 is displayed. Specify a subcontractor warehouse if no subcontractor warehouse was defined in step 7.
