Object Families (dmsys1112s000)
Use this session to define the parameters of an object family. These fields are defined by the ERP Administrator.
- Family
-
The family identifier.
- System Defined Family
-
Select this check box to indicate that the object family is a system-defined family. You cannot delete or modify system-defined object families at a later stage.
- Description
-
The description of the object family.
- Owner
-
The owner of the object family. The owner refers to the object.
Click the browse arrow to start the Objects (dmsys1511m000).
- Logical Linkage Type
-
An option to indicate if the object family is inverted. This option is used in links in the Objects Links (dmcom8110m000) session, in which the owner appears as the target object and the target appears as the source object.
- Foreign

An option to indicate whether the object family is foreign. A foreign family has links maintained through a table other than the Generic Links (dmcom010) table.
- Virtual

An option to indicate if the object family is virtual. A virtual family is grouping of object families. Objects cannot be members of a virtual family.
- Symmetric
-
The check box option. If this check box is selected, the owner object and target object are the same. The owner and member of the family refer to the same object.
- Links Table

The table in which the object links are maintained.

- Owner Field Name

The name of the field in which the owner's instance is stored.

- Target Type Field Name

The target-type field name. This field stores the target object in the links table. Click the browse arrow to select a table field of the links table from the Table Fields (ttadv4522m000) session.
- Target Field Name

The target-object field name, in which the target object's instance value is stored. Click the browse arrow to select a table field of the links table from the Table Fields (ttadv4522m000) session.
- Sequence Field Name

The sequence field name. Click the browse arrow to select a table field of the links table from the Table Fields (ttadv4522m000) session.
- Link Session

The session which should allow creating / displaying links between the owner of the family and the family's members.

- Logical Linkage Type
-
The logical linkage type for the object linked to the object family. The possible values for linkage type are Container, Parent/Child, Refer to (Related info), and Driver.
- Data Linkage Model
-
The drop-down list to choose the data linkage model. A logical linkage is enabled between source and target objects, which provides the relation between the family owner and family members. The possible linkage model can be
One to One: A one-to-one relation between the owner and member. The owner instance can be linked to only one member instance, and vice versa.
One to Many: One owner instance can be linked to many member instances.
Many to Many: Multiple owner instances can be linked to multiple members, and vice versa.
Many to one: A member can be linked to many owner instances.
- Direct Logical Description

The title in the generic links session in which the links of this family are maintained/displayed.
Note: Because the same generic links session enables you to link various objects, such as link an engineering item to a task, and link a document to a folder. You must change the description of the generic links session accordingly at run time, and therefore this description is provided. - Used Logical Description
