- Handling Unit
-
The handling unit code that is used to uniquely identify the handling unit in LN. You can either manually define handling units in this session or in the Compose Handling Units (whwmd5130m100) session, or generate handling units in various stages of the inbound and outbound flows. If you manually define a handling unit in this session, to define the handling unit code you can enter an alphanumeric code in this field. To enable LN to generate handling units, you must use Handling Unit Mask to define handling unit codes. When a handling unit is generated, the handling unit code is generated as specified in the handling unit mask.
- Item
-
The item that is packed by means of the handling unit.
- Quantity in Storage Unit
-
The quantity of items expressed in the storage unit. If the handling unit is a parent and one or more child handling units of the parent are destroyed after inspection, the destroyed quantity is subtracted from the parent's quantity displayed in this field.
Note that if you manually create a handling unit, you cannot specify the number of items to be packed by means of the handling units. To pack items by means of a handling unit, you can use the Compose Handling Units (whwmd5130m100) session. For further information, see Pack: to generate a handling unit for multiple items. In addition, if handling units are generated for receipts, shipments, advice, inspections, and order lines, the handling units contain the number of items specified on the shipment, receipt, and so on.
command on the appropriate menu of the - Unit
-
The storage unit in which the quantity is expressed.
- Status
-
- Inactive
-
A handling unit has the Inactive status in these situations:
- The handling unit is newly created and not yet linked to an inbound or outbound order line, advice, a shipment, or an approval.
- The handling unit has been emptied of its contents. For example, handling unit A010 is a pallet containing 100 boxes, handling units B001 - B100. After the boxes have been stored in their respective locations, the remaining pallet A010 obtains the Inactive status.
- Allocated
-
An outbound handling unit obtains the Allocated status if outbound advice is created for the handling unit.
- Partially Allocated
-
A part of the quantity of items contained in the handling unit is allocated to outbound advice.
In the Handling Unit Process Outbound (whinh2123m000) session, you can view the advised quantity and the orders to which the handling unit quantity is allocated.
When all of the items of the handling units are allocated to outbound advice, the handling unit status is set to Allocated.
- Released
-
An outbound handling unit obtains the Released status if the outbound advice of the handling unit is released.
- Staged
-
An outbound handling unit obtains the Staged status if the handling unit is collected from the storage location according to the outbound advice or the picking list and moved to the staging location.
In addition, if an outbound handling unit with the To Be Inspected status is approved after inspection, the handling unit obtains the Staged status. The approved handling unit can be moved to the staging location.
- Frozen
-
This status is used to enable shipping documents to be printed before the shipment is confirmed. Handling units with the Staged status obtain the Frozen status if the shipment to which the handling unit is related obtains the Frozen status. This status indicates that the shipping documents for the shipment of the handling unit can be printed, but the shipment cannot yet be shipped, and the shipments and shipment lines cannot be changed.
- Partially Frozen
-
A bottom-level handling unit that is linked to multiple shipment lines obtains the Partially Frozen status if at least one, but not all of the shipment lines are frozen.
- Confirming
-
A bottom-level handling unit that is linked to multiple shipment lines obtains the Confirming status if at least one, but not all of the shipment lines are confirmed.
A handling unit can be linked to multiple shipment lines if the Allow Multi Item for Shipping check box is selected in the Handling Unit Templates (whwmd4160m000) session.
- Shipped
-
The outbound handling unit has been loaded onto a truck or other means of transport and has left the warehouse. Handling units with the Staged or Frozen status obtain the Shipped status if the shipment line to which the handling unit is related obtains the Confirmed status.
- In Transit
-
The handling unit is being transferred from one warehouse to another within the same LN company. After a handling unit is confirmed in the issuing warehouse, the handling unit obtains the In Transit status and you can create a receipt record for the handling unit in the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session or the Warehouse Receipt (whinh3512m000) session to receive the handling unit in the destination warehouse.
- Closed
-
The final status of a handling unit.
An inbound handling unit obtains the Closed status in the following cases:
- The handling unit has the In Stock status and is removed as a result of a negative adjustment.
- The handling unit has the Quarantine status and is scrapped.
- The handling unit has the To Be Inspected status and is destroyed by means of the command.
- The entire item quantity of handling unit is destroyed during inspection and the inspection is processed.
An outbound handling unit obtains the Closed status if the handling unit has the:
- Quarantine status and is scrapped.
- Shipped status and is closed by means of the command.
- Staged status and is closed as a result of an adjustment.
- Staged status and contains multiple stock points. The handling unit is closed when the linked shipment is confirmed.
- Adjustment Open
-
The handling unit is generated for an adjustment order line with a positive variance that is not yet processed.
- Allocated for Change
-
An unprocessed allocation change order or inventory ownership change order is present for the handling unit.
The ownership or the allocation of the handling unit changes when the allocation change order or inventory ownership change order for the handling unit is processed.
- Committed
-
The handling unit is active and contains committed quantity, but outbound advice is not yet created.
- Open
-
The handling unit is related to an inbound order. You can create a receipt record for the handling unit in the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session or the Warehouse Receipt (whinh3512m000) session to receive the handling unit in the warehouse.
- Receipt Open
-
A receipt record is created for a handling unit that is related to an inbound order. The handling unit is ready to be received in the warehouse. Note that if the handling unit belongs to a handling unit structure that includes parent and child handling units, you can receive child handling units separately from their parent handling units. For example, if the parent handling unit is a pallet and the child handling units are boxes, you can receive one or more boxes from the pallet first and leave the remaining boxes until later.
- Received
-
The receipt record for an inbound handling unit is confirmed. The handling unit is received and registered in the warehouse, and you can take further steps to store the handling unit in the warehouse or move the handling unit to the inspection location, if inspections are included in the inbound flow of the warehouse. If required, you can carry out a receipt correction.
- Advised
-
Inbound advice is created for the handling unit after:
- Obtaining the Received status
- Obtaining the Approved status
- To Be Inspected
-
If inspections are included in the inbound flow of the warehouse, inbound handling units with the Advised status obtain the To Be Inspected status when they are moved to the inspection location as specified on the inbound advice or the storage list. If the warehouse has no locations, the handling unit for which inspections are required obtain the To Be Inspected status after the receipt is confirmed.
If inspections are included in the outbound flow of the warehouse, outbound handling units with the Released status obtain the To Be Inspected status when they are moved to the inspection location as specified on the outbound advice or the picking list.
- Approved
-
If an inbound handling unit with the To Be Inspected status is approved after inspection, the handling unit obtains the Approved status if the warehouse is location-controlled.
The approved handling unit can be advised for storage in the warehouse, see status Advised. If the warehouse is non-location controlled, the handling unit obtains the In Stock status.
- Quarantine
-
The handling unit is rejected during warehousing inspection or the handling unit is received in quarantine from production. This status applies until the disposition of the handling units is processed and quarantine handling is completed as described in Processing handling unit dispositions.
- In Stock
-
The handling unit is stored in the warehouse. Inbound handling units with the Advised status are stored in the warehouse according to the inbound advice, and, if this step is included in the inbound flow, the storage list. If the warehouse is non-location controlled, the handling unit obtains the In Stock status after the receipt is confirmed or after the handling unit is approved upon inspection.
If outbound handling units with the Staged status are not shipped immediately, for example, because the customer changes his mind and does not want the goods right away, the handling units can be put back in the storage location. In such cases, the handling units are first set to Not Shipped in the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session to indicate that the shipment is put on hold. Next, to put the handling units back in the storage locations, you must use the option in the Handling Units (whwmd5130m000) session. Handling units that contain multiple stock points are set to Closed when set to Not Shipped. Their contents are stored in inventory without handling units. See The shipment procedure for handling units.
- In Production
-
The handling unit is generated for a production order. Less than the label quantity of the handling unit specified in the Label Quantity field of the Production Order Handling Units (tisfc0506m000) session has been reported complete.
- Production Completed
-
The total label quantity of the handling unit specified in the Label Quantity field of the Production Order Handling Units (tisfc0506m000) session is reported complete. This applies to handling units generated for a production order.
- Sent To Warehouse
-
One or more items contained in the handling unit are reported complete and the Directly Send to Warehouse check box is selected in the Report Orders Completed (tisfc0520m000) session. This applies to handling units generated for a production order.

- Packaging Item
-
The packaging item of which the handling unit consists.
- Labeled
-
If this check box is selected, for each packing item defined for the handling unit, a label record is created. These labels can be printed. In this way, each existing packing item is uniquely identified. For example, if the boxes on a pallet are labeled, each box obtains a label when handling units are generated for an order for milk cartons.
- Complete
-
If this check box is selected, the structure of the handling unit has not changed since the handling unit was received in the warehouse. If the structure of the handling unit is changed after receipt, this check box is automatically cleared.
In the outbound flow, this check box is automatically selected when the sealing process is completed. If sealing of the handling unit is undone, this check box is cleared. This applies if the Handling Unit Based Packing Implemented check box is selected in the Handling Unit Based Packing Parameters (brpac9110m999) session.
Default value
This check box is cleared by default if the Handling Unit Based Packing Implemented check box is selected in the Handling Unit Based Packing Parameters (brpac9110m999) session.

- Number of Visible Units
-
The visible units of a handling unit are the units that you can see. For example, if the handling unit is a pallet that contains 12 boxes, the number of visible units is 12, because you can see units that are placed on a pallet. If, on the other hand, the handling unit is a container that contains three pallets, the number of visible units is one, because the only unit that you can see is the container.
In this field, you can manually enter the number of visible units, but you can also use the
command to calculate this number. The results calculated by this command are inserted in this field, overwriting any manual insertions.
