Overview of complete work order
When setting a work order status to Completed, the Complete Work Order (tswcs2240m000) session is displayed. The session is displayed irrespective of the main item on the work order being anonymous or serialized controlled in Service.
If the item is serialized
When the main item is serialized, the planned quantity (always 1) is defaulted in the Actual Quantity field, in the Complete Work Order (tswcs2240m000) session. When the actual quantity is set to zero, indicating that the item is not repaired:
- The work order status is set to Completed and the item is not returned to the customer.
- A warehouse receipt is not created.
When the actual quantity is 1, you can define the new serial status of the item.
For example, if the Serial Status in the Complete Work Order (tswcs2240m000) session is set to Defective, the serial is returned unrepaired to the customer. The Create Follow-up Work Order for remaining quantity check box is not displayed when the main item is serialized.
If the item is anonymous
When the main item is anonymous, the planned activity is defaulted in the Actual Quantity field, in the Complete Work Order (tswcs2240m000) session. When the actual quantity is modified and is set to a value other than zero (less than planned quantity), the Create Follow-up Work Order for remaining quantity check box is enabled. If this check box is selected, a new follow-up work order is created for the remaining quantity.
On selecting the Create Follow-up Work Order for remaining quantity check box
When the Create Follow-up Work Order for remaining quantity check box is selected in the Complete Work Order (tswcs2240m000) session:
Impact on current work order
The current work order Status is set to Completed and based on the Automatically Sign-off Work Order Activity and the Automatically Close Work Order check boxes selected in the Work Order Parameters (tswcs0100m000), the work order is set to signed-off and closed. The unconsumed materials are issued again to the new follow-up work order.
Impact on Part Maintenance line
For and external work order, a new Part Maintenance line is created for the maintenance sales order related to the current work order. The Item Receipt check box is cleared and the Receipt and Delivery Warehouse of the original Part Maintenance line are defaulted in the Receipt and Delivery Warehouse of the new Part Maintenance line.
The From Warehouse of the completed work order is defaulted in the Work Order Warehouse (Receipt) and the To Warehouse of the completed work order is defaulted in the Work Order Warehouse (Delivery) of Part Maintenance line. The difference of the planned and actual quantity of the original work order is defaulted in the Quantity field of the Part Maintenance line.
The related service objects such as Quote, Turnaround Time Document and Warranty are copied from the original Part Maintenance line to the new Part Maintenance line. A new Turnaround Time Document is not created as the TAT timer continues on the follow-up work order. The status of the new Part Maintenance is set to In Process, because the total quantity is already received on the previous Part Maintenance line.
Impact on new follow-up work order
The work order that is set to competed is defaulted as the initiating work order on the new follow-up work order and the order origin is set to Maintenance Sales Order. The new follow-up work order status is set to Released and can be processed further.
The difference between the planned quantity and the actual quantity of the completed work order is set as the Planned Quantity of the new work order. The work order activities and the resource requirement lines are copied to the new work order.
The material resource lines are copied proportionally based, on the new planned quantity, except for the material lines with delivery type From Warehouse and Via Purchase. For these material lines, the unconsumed quantity is defaulted as the required quantity on the material lines for the new work order. If all material is used even if all main items are not completed, the material line is copied with required quantity set to zero.
The work order activity duration and the order header duration are determined based on the new planned quantity and labor estimated time.
