Create Allocation Buffers (tsmdm4225m000)
Use this session to create allocation buffers. When the available allocated inventory is insufficient to meet the demand for an order and unallocated inventory is available, you can create the allocation buffer from the unallocated inventory. You can use the allocation buffer to satisfy the demand for the current order.
You can create an allocation buffer when the following conditions are satisfied:
- Available allocated inventory is insufficient to meet the demand.
- Unallocated inventory is available
- The Use Unallocated Inventory check box must be selected. You
can select the check box in the following sessions:
- Service Order Estimated Material Costs (tssoc2120m000)
- Service Order Actual Material Costs (tssoc2121m000)
- Maintenance Sales Order - Part Lines (tsmsc1110m000)
- Work Order Material Resources (tswcs4110m000)

The item for which the allocation buffer must be created. In LN, items can be raw materials, subassemblies, finished products, and tools that can be purchased, stored, manufactured, sold, and so on.
You can also define cost item or service item to track the costs or to invoice the customer.

The warehouse from which the items must be shipped.
- Ordered

The quantity of items that is ordered by the sold-to business partner.
- Ordered Unit

The unit in which the ordered quantity is measured.
- Shortage

The difference between the ordered quantity and the total allocated inventory and/or hard pegged supply orders.

The quantity of unallocated inventory that can be allocated.
