Service Areas (tsmdm1105m000)
Use this session to define and maintain service areas.
Service areas can have a:
- Specified warehouse that supplies its inventory requirements.
- Specified service department that carries out services in the area.
- Either a Main Service Area that it belongs to, or a Subservice Area that belongs to it.
- Default labor rate used to calculate labor costs.
- Specified method of charging for call-out costs (either a set charge, or one based on the average traveling time and distance for the service area).
Field Information
- Service Area

A unique code (max. 3 characters, alphanumeric) given to the service area for identification purposes.
- Description
-
The name or description of the service area.
- Service Area Type
-
The service area's type.
- Main Service Area

The code for the main service center to which the service area is linked. This field is enabled only when the Service Area type field reads Subservice Area. Else this field is disabled.

The description of the Main service Area.
- Service Office

The code of the service department providing services to the service area.
- Warehouse

The code of warehouse that sources the required inventory for the service area.
If this field is not filled in, by default the warehouse attached to the service department in the Service Offices (tsmdm1100m000) session will supply the required inventory.
Note: The warehouse must be of type Service or Normal. - Description

The name of the warehouse chosen to supply the required inventory for the Service Area.
- Average Traveling Time

The average traveling time from the service organisation to the service area.
The traveling time is expressed in Base Time Unit Hour.
When the service/maintenance activities are planned for this service area, LN uses this value as the default traveling time.
Note: If the Traveling Cost Method is set to Based on Service Area and the call-out charge is zero (0.0), the average time and distance will be used to charge the customer based on the distance rate and time rate defined in the General Service Parameters (tsmdm0100m000) session. - Base Time Unit Hour

The measurement unit of the average traveling time.
- Average Traveling Distance

The average distance from the service organization to the service area.
Note: If the Traveling Cost Method is set to Based on Service Area and the call-out charge is zero (0.0), the average time and distance will be used to charge the customer based on the distance rate and time rate defined in the General Service Parameters (tsmdm0100m000) session. - Distance Unit

The measurement unit of the average traveling distance.
- Call-out Charge

The fixed amount charged to the customer as a travel expense (irrespective of time or distance traveled) if the Traveling Cost Method is set to Based on Service Area in the General Service Parameters (tsmdm0100m000) session.
Note: If the Traveling Cost Method is set to Based on Service Area and the call-out charge is zero (0.0), the average time and distance will be used to charge the customer based on the distance rate and time rate defined in the General Service Parameters (tsmdm0100m000) session. - Currency

The code of currency that the call-out charge is calculated in.

- Labor Rate

The labor rate used (by default) to calculate labor costs for services carried out in the service area. Selected from the Labor Rate Code - Rates (tcppl0191m000) session.
