To use a dynamic menu
The dynamic menu is a combination of objects and sessions that are related to one project, displayed in one window. This menu provides an alternative method for performing tasks. Only relevant information is displayed, and you can easily start tasks.
Appearance A dynamic menu is based on usability. You will find icons, colors and some special effects to display the menu:
- The project is mentioned above the black line. Below the line, the different objects and sessions are displayed.
- To use the icons, refer to the icon Help on the menu.
- Sometimes an item on the menu has a different color; the active plan, for example,.
Use dynamic menus You can start a dynamic menu from the menu browser. Dynamics menus are placed at the top of a menu section related to that dynamic menu. You will find three dynamic menus in Project:
- The Scope Definition dynamic menu in the Project Definition directory.
- The Budget dynamic menu in the Project Budget directory.
- The Actuals and Forecast dynamic menu in the Project Progress directory. If you want to work with another project, you can change the active project by clicking Select Projects on the Specific menu, select another project. On the Specific menu of the dynamic menu, you can find the related sessions for that dynamic menu and project. From one dynamic menu, you can open another dynamic menu, you can start sessions, and display structures. If the organization breakdown structure is missing, the project does not use an OBS.
How dynamic is the menu? Dynamic means that options are not available when you have not yet reached a certain project phase or entered transactions, depending on the choices you made for the project definition.
For example, in PPC, the dynamic menu displays whether the item is confirmed and or processed. (1 of 1) means that one item must still be confirmed. (0 of 1) means no items need to be confirmed, but one item must still be processed. In the (0 of 0) option, the confirm or process option in the dynamic menu are gone, because no item is left to be confirmed or processed.
