To use surcharge data

You can use surcharges to categorize indirect project costs, such as general overhead costs, including storage, handling, and maintenance costs, management overheads and so on. Surcharges are calculated as a percentage of direct costs and are posted to a sundry costs cost object. In LN, you use surcharges to calculate the indirect costs of the budget of the project in the Budgeting module and/or the actual indirect costs of the project in the Project Accounting module.

A 10 % surcharge is calculated over the total cost and linked to the sundry cost G&A Surcharge. If the total cost is 5.000 USD, a surcharge of 500 is calculated.

Surcharges can be defined on an overall company level. For this Standard Surcharges can be used. Use the Standard Surcharges (tppdm1870m000) session to list and start the following sessions, which you can use to define different types of standard surcharges:

Irrespective of its cost type, however, each surcharge is posted to a sundry cost code. Each surcharge allows to define whether the surcharge is to be linked to a specific element or activity. If not set, the surcharge will have the same element or activity as the budgeted or actual cost for which it is calculated. Each surcharge also allows to define how to deal with the enterprise unit. In case a fixed enterprise unit is to be used, this can be captured as part of the surcharge definition.

In the Project Parameters (tppdm0100s000) session, using the Copy General Surcharges when creating Project option, you can copy the standard surcharges as project surcharges while creating a new project.

Surcharge sessions use the Budget Cost Surcharges (tpptc0821m000) session to list and access the various sessions that enable you to display and maintain cost surcharge details. You can enter cost surcharges:

For the project as a whole.
By cost component within a project.
By cost type in a project.
By specific cost object.

To print details of cost surcharge for a selected project and sundry cost range, use the Print Budget Cost Surcharges (tpptc0420m000) session. To list the various sessions that enable you to display cost surcharge history, use the Budget Cost Surcharge History (tpptc0822m000) session.

You can use the Surcharges (tpppc2880m000) session to list and start the sessions for defining different types of project-specific surcharges for unit costs and revenues.

In the Project (tppdm6600m400) session, you can use the Use Surcharges option to calculate the surcharges for a specific project.
