Creating a serialized item using a project breakdown structure

The serial number and lot control code of the serialized item are used when a serialized item linked to a project is copied to service. The serial number of an item linked to a project can be retrieved if:
  • A procured serialized item that is received in a warehouse is issued to a project.
  • A manufactured serialized item that is received in a warehouse is issued to a project.
  • A serialized item is procured at a project site.

To create a serialized item in Service using a project breakdown structure:

  1. Create an installation group in the Installation Group (tsbsc1600m000) session.
  2. Select Actions > Create Physical Breakdown > From Project Breakdown Structures. The Copy Project Breakdown Structure (tscfg2210m200) session is displayed.
  3. Specify a project.
Note: You can view the items that are issued to a project using a purchase order or a warehousing order in the Cost Transactions (tpppc2100m000) session.
  4. Select the Use Project Serial Numbers check box to copy the actual serial numbers of the items used in the specified project.
  5. Click Create. Serialized items with the actual serial numbers used in the specified project are created in the Serialized Item 360 (tscfg2100m100) session.
