Maintaining Engineering Item - Item Relationship

You can link one or more items to an E-item's revision. When the link is made, you can copy the revision to the item. You cannot run the Generate EBOM Copy Data (Multilevel) (tiedm1230m000) session until you have linked an E-item revision to an item.

To create a new engineering - item relationship

To create a new relationship, click the New Group button, and enter the following:

  • The E-item
  • The E-item revision

To define a new relationship with an E-item, click the New Item button. You can now enter the item to which you want to copy the E-item's revision.

If you run the following sessions, LN automatically defines relationships between an engineering item and an item:

  • Copy Engineering Item to Item (tiedm1201m000) (after copying).
  • EBOM Copy Data (tiedm1120m000) (after copying).
  • Finalize Engineering Data (tiedm3240m000) (after copying).
  • Engineering Item Revision (tiedm1100m000) (after changing the status to Approved by Production).
  • E-Item by MBC (tiedm3122m000) (after changing the status to Approved by Production).
  • Process EBOM Changes (tiedm3205m000) (after changing the status to Approved by Engineering). If an MBC is approved for production, it does not mean that its revisions are also approved. You must approve those revisions separately.

Constraints on linking

  • You can only link one E-item to an item, but you can link several revisions of the same E-item to one item.
  • You cannot establish relationships between E-items and a revision with the status Canceled.
  • You can only link items and engineering items if the item and E-item are the same item type.
  • You can delete relationships if the standard or customized item is not revision controlled.
  • You can also delete relationships when you delete E-items in the Engineering Item (tiedm0110m000) session.

  • Update Engineering Relationship (tiedm3220m000).
  • Engineering Item and Item Consistency (tiedm1521m000).
  • EBOM and PBOM Consistency (tiedm1520m000).
