Generating Assembly Order Lists for Critical Parts
To generate lists of orders, you must specify a range of requirement dates and assembly parts. Orders that require any of these parts on any of these dates, are included in the list.
The generation of the order lists takes into account:
-
Whether there are blocked orders for the combinations of requirement dates and assembly parts in the specified range.
If available, the blocked orders will all be listed. The shortage quantity is not used as a limit for the amount of blocked orders that are selected. The importance of blocked orders originates from the fact that blocked orders are included in the inventory check. Because the parts requirements of blocked orders are also checked, although these parts will not be used as long as the order is blocked, it is very important to see if the shortage quantity does or does not exceed the blocked quantity. Also, blocked orders are orders that require some action. Therefore, it is important to keep them in view.
- The amount of assembly parts that are in short supply. If necessary, LN adds unblocked orders to the lists, until the total shortage quantity of the assembly parts is reached.
- The number you specify in the Number of Extra Orders field. Extra orders on the list can be useful if you want to block other orders than LN suggests, or if you want to check if orders can be rescheduled (to an earlier date).
- The selection criteria you specify in the Select Orders Based On field. It can be the case that several (not-blocked) orders are available to be blocked for the solution of the shortage problem. Then it is better to block orders that have a low priority. Therefore, LN requires certain criteria to select the right orders. These criteria are grouped under two headings: Planned Offline Date and Assembly Order Status. Refer to the field Help for further details.
- Whether the Regenerate Order Lists check box is selected. If you run this session, a list of orders is created for each combination of requirement date and assembly part, that falls in the specified ranges. If you select this check box, LN deletes any existing order list that falls in the specified ranges. The new lists replace the existing lists. If you did not select the check box, the existing lists are only updated. This means that LN compares the new lists with the existing lists. If new lists are found, they are stored, and if new orders are found for an existing list, they are added to the existing list.
