Avoiding shortages on production orders
It is essential to know whether sufficient material is available at the moment you start working on a production order.
For example, you want to know whether sufficient material is available for production order X00001 on (future) production start date X. To determine the availability of material, LN can take the following factors into account:
- Material that is not yet present in inventory, but that will arrive before date X (scheduled purchase receipts or scheduled production receipts).
- Planned production orders that will consume material in inventory before date X.
Based on the previously mentioned assumptions, the Print Shortages by Production Order (tisfc0418m000) session determines whether shortages exist of a material for a specific production order on a specific date. Using the session, you can perform a pessimistical analysis or an optimistic analysis to determine whether the required material for the production order is available in inventory.
- Optimistic analysis: Projected inventory and the clustered warehouses are taken into account.
- Pessimistical analysis: Schedules receipts and blocked inventory are not taken into account.
You can also use the Inventory by Production Order (tisfc0516m000) session to check whether sufficient material is available for a production order.
