Queue time compression
When you plan the production of an order, it makes sense to build in some slack, for example, by defining queue times. This gives flexibility and the capacity to cope with unexpected events, certain operations taking longer than planned, and so on. However, it may be that you want to reduce the amount of slack that you have planned, for instance if the start date has been delayed and you still want to meet the original delivery date.
You can use the Automated Queue Time Compression (tisfc1103s000) session to compress the queue time. This session is accessible via the appropriate menu of the Production Orders (tisfc0501m000) session and the Production Planning (tisfc0110m000) session.
In the Automated Queue Time Compression (tisfc1103s000) session, LN provides two methods to reduce the queue times across the remaining operations of a production order:
- Targeted Percent: LN simply reduces the queue times of all the operations by the percentage you specify. You can select whether to include or exclude bottleneck work centers.
- Best Fit: You enter a new start date and/or delivery date and LN reduces the queue times to fit the new dates. Again, you can choose whether operations at bottleneck work centers are included.
You can also reduce the queue time in individual operations:
- In the Production Order (tisfc0101s000) session you can alter the planning dates of a production order. LN replans the order after each adjustment.
- In the Production Planning (tisfc0110m000) session you can alter the dates and the queue time. LN replans the production order after each adjustment.
- In the Production Planning by Planning Board (tisfc1120m000) session you can alter the dates and the queue time using a graphical interface. LN replans the order after each adjustment.
