To define shared work centers

Shared work centers are used to perform operations for multiple companies that represent production sites. See Shared work centers for further information.

Note:

The use of shared work centers and Job Shop by Site is mutually exclusive. The use of shared work centers must be disabled before you can activate the Job Shop by Siteconcept. See the Infor LN User Guide for Site Activation for further information.

To define shared work centers, complete these steps:

  1. To enable the use of shared work centers

To enable the use of shared work centers, select the Use Shared Work Centers check box in the Job Shop Master Data Parameters (tirou0100m000) session.

  2. To share data

The data used by the shared work centers must be available to all the companies involved. The secondary work centers must use the same operation rates codes. You can either share the (ticpr050) table or copy the data.

You can use the Table Sharing Modeler to share this table. The Table Sharing Modeler is accessed via Tools -> Database Management -> Table Sharing Modeling. For details, refer to the Infor LN User Guide for Table Sharing.

These parameter settings must be identical in the companies involved:

    • Use of Shop Floor Warehouses in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0500m000) session.
    • Update Method Week Utilization in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0500m000) session.
    • Update Method Day Utilization in the Production Order Parameters (tisfc0500m000) session.
    • Type of Operation Rates in the Standard Cost Calculation Parameters (ticpr0100m000) session.
  3. To define work centers

In the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session, define the shared work center as the primary work center and the local work centers as the secondary work centers.

Make sure that you are working in the company that you want to use for the primary work center. This is the company in which the production is performed. You can change companies from the Tools menu of your menu browser.

For the primary work center, select Primary in the Shared Type/ Primary Company field. For the secondary work centers, select Secondary in the Shared Type/ Primary Company field.

  4. To define a shared work center relationship

In the Work Centers (tirou0101m000) session, select the primary work center and, from the appropriate menu, start the Shared Work Center Relationships (tirou3100m000) session.

In the Shared Work Center Relationships (tirou3100m000) session, insert a secondary work center for each of the companies that want to use a part of the capacity of the primary work center. The sum of the capacities of the secondary work centers can be greater than 100%, but you should only allow this to account for unusual circumstances, such as overtime. You can define one secondary work center for each company.

    Note:
    • Before using the shared work centers, you must negotiate the appropriate rates, prices, contracts, and so on.
    • The primary work center cannot be used in routing operations. To model the work performed in the company of the primary work center, define a shared secondary work center for the company of the primary work center and link this work center to the primary work center.
