Finalize Engineering Data (tiedm3240m000)
Use this session to finalize copying data from EBOMs to PBOMs, that is, to actually copy the data which you have generated in previous sessions.
Update methods
You can either finalize data using mass bill of material changes (MBCs), or you can finalize data for individual items.
- Before you run this session for individual E-items, you must record the EBOM copy data for those items in the EBOM Copy Data (tiedm1120m000) session.
- Before you run this session for revisions generated by MBC, you must run the Generate EBOM Copy Data by MBC (tiedm3235m000) session.
Selection range
If you select With MBC in the Finalization Method field you can select the range of MBCs for which you want to finalize data.
If you select Without MBC in the Finalization Method field: you can select the range of E-item revisions and main items (parent BOM items) for which you want to finalize data.
Field Information
- Finalization Method
-
Use this session to finalize copying data from EBOMs to PBOMs.
Update Methods
You can either finalize data using MBCs or finalize data for individual items. You can also select whether all BOM lines are copied, or only certain ones.
Selection Range
If you have selected With MBC in the Finalization Method field, you can select the range of MBCs for which you want to finalize data.
If you have selected Without MBC in the Finalization Method field, you can select the range of E-item revisions and Main items (parent BOM items) for which you want to finalize data.
- Production BOM Update Method
-
Select the method by which you want to copy data from the engineering BOM (EBOM) to the production BOM.
If the PBOM History check box in the Engineering Data Management Parameters (tiedm0100m000) session is cleared, the production BOM lines are overwritten by the copied data. If that check box is selected, the copied data is written to new sequence numbers.
Allowed values
- All Available Lines
-
All the PBOM lines are replaced by the EBOM lines and by non-EBOM lines. The latter are lines from a standard PBOM that are copied to a project (using the copy method NonProj Item to Proj Item in the EBOM Copy Data (tiedm1120m000) in the session).
- Only Corresponding Pos.
-
Lines in the PBOM with the same position numbers as the EBOM are replaced by the corresponding EBOM lines and non-EBOM lines. The other PBOM lines remain unchanged.
- Corresp. and Linked Pos.
-
The following lines in the PBOM are replaced by EBOM lines and non-EBOM lines:
- Lines in the PBOM that have the same numbers as EBOM lines.
- Lines in the PBOM that have numbers that differ from the EBOM line numbers, in which case the Link with EDM check box in the Bill of Material (tibom1110m000) session must be selected, and the numbers were created by previous finalizing actions on the engineering data.
The other lines from the PBOM remain unchanged. These lines are not engineering-related (for example, packing materials). In this way, you can make a clear distinction in PBOMs between engineering-related components and logistics components which do not relate to engineering.
- MBC Number

Select the range of MBCs which you want to use to copy data from engineering to production.
- MBC Number

Select the range of MBCs which you want to use to copy data from engineering to production.
- From Engineering Item
-
Select the range of E-items whose revisions you want to copy from engineering to production. If the copy data you have generated includes the bills of material for these items, they will be copied as well.
- To Engineering Item
-
Select the range of E-items whose revisions you want to copy from engineering to production. If the copy data you have generated includes the bills of material for these items, they will be copied as well.
- Engineering Item Revision
-
Select the range of E-item revisions you want to copy from engineering to production. If the copy data you have generated includes the bills of material for these items, they will be copied as well.
- Revision
-
Select the range of E-item revisions you want to copy from engineering to production. If the copy data you have generated includes the bills of material for these items, they will be copied as well.
- From Main item
-
Select the range of target production items you require.
The result of copying an E-item to this item depends on the value of the item's Update Engineering Item Relations field in the Items (tcibd0501m000) session. You can alter the Update Engineering Item Relations field with the Update Engineering Relationship (tiedm3220m000) session.
- To Main item

- Finalize Multilevel
-
If this check box is selected, the data is finalized on multilevel, instead of at single-level. For example, if you have an EBOM structure of A-B-C and you perform multilevel finalizing, when you finalize A, the EBOMs of B and C are also finalized.
- Copy Document Links
-
If this check box is selected, all attached documents are also copied during the copy process. For example, if you have an EBOM structure of A-B-C and you perform multilevel finalizing, when you finalize A, the attached documents of B and C are also finalized.
- Overwrite existing PBOM
-
If this check box is selected, an existing PBOM is overwritten without creating a new revision for the top E-item.
You can select this check box if many sub-level changes must be finalized, and it is not desired to create a new revision for the top E-item. The error message Valid E-BOM copy data not present for relationship %1$s. is suppressed, and further action is continued in the session.
