Item Base Data Parameters (tcibd9199m000)

Use this session to:

  • View historical parameter settings, by double-clicking one of the historical parameter sets.
  • Modify current parameter settings, by double-clicking the set without an effective date that appears at the top of the list.

If you make the required changes and save the new parameter set, LN performs the following actions:

  • Adds the new set to the history list.
  • Updates the current set (at the top of the list).
Note: By default, the Description field contains the date and time when the previous parameter set was saved.

Field Information

Introduction Date

The date and time that the parameters are valid. The parameters are valid up to the effective date of a more recent parameter setting.

Description

The description of the parameter set. For example, you can indicate why you change the parameters.

Default value

The current date and time.

Lot Mask Code

The default mask used for lot codes.

Serialized Mask Code

The default mask used for serial numbers.

Check Project Code in Item Code

An item code in LN can consist of a project segment and an item segment. If no PCS project is present for an item, which means that the item is not customized, the project segment of the item code is empty. LN then considers the item code as consisting of nine spaces, followed by the name in the item segment.

External applications, however, usually do not recognize an item code consisting of an project segment and an item segment, or an item code that is preceded by nine spaces. As a result, the project segment of an item code that is transferred from LN to an external application, is not recognized as such by the external application, and becomes part of the item name.

Example

In an external application, an item defined in LN with project segment STANDARD, and item segment BIKE, is considered to have the same name as a non-customized item with item name STANDARD BIKE.

Use this check box to avoid that you define item codes in LN that are conflicting in external applications.

If this check box is selected, and you add a new item code or project code, LN performs a few checks:

  • If you define an item in the Items (tcibd0501m000) details session, the first nine characters of the item name should not equal the existing project code in LN.
  • If you define a project code in the General Projects (tcmcs0552m000) details session, the code should not equal the first characters of an existing item code in LN.
Note: Selecting this check box decreases software performance significantly. Instead, you can clear this check box, and use the Print Items where a Project Code is part of the Item Code (tcibd0401m100) session to check whether a range of existing item codes or project codes will produce conflicts for external applications.

Performance aspects

The setting of this field could affect system performance and database growth. For more information, refer to COM and IBD parameters.

Long Item Description

If this check box is selected, the length of a series of description fields is increased.

The item description field will allow 60 characters instead of 30. The extended length will also apply to related fields like Item Code Systems, Manufacturing Part Number, Equipment and Subcontracting. The length of the affected fields is increased by using a new domain.

Note: If you have an extension on any of the affected fields, the extension must be updated with the new domain before this parameter can be selected.

Suffix for Rental Product
The default suffix used for the rental product’s item code.
Item Engineering Revisions
Originating App
The source of the item engineering revision.
