Inventory-tracking consumption selection process
An ITU consumption is used to consume the inventory tracking units (ITUs) based in the
outbound advice using the automatic selection process or you can assign the inventory manually
that must be consumed.
The ITU consumption consumes inventory from the ITUs when confirming the pick (when no shipments are in the procedure) or when confirmation of the shipment is done.
The ITUs are selected for consumption only when the required quantity is available in the
issuing warehouse. In this scenario, the quantity can also be available in one or more ITUs.
In case of insufficient inventory, these are the scenarios:
- When the negative inventory is not allowed, the selection process is not executed, and items are not selected.
- When negative inventory is allowed, the ITU selection process is not executed, and warehousing process is executed without selecting any ITUs. In this scenario, ITUs can exist with sufficient inventory in another warehouse of the same site or location.
