Item Dimensions by Unit (fmfmd1110m000)
Use this session to view and maintain freight related units and unit dimensions for items.
For each item that is processed by Freight, you can select a unit and specify the dimensions as they apply to transportation. You can overwrite the default values. The default values of the item dimensions are taken from the Item - Warehousing (whwmd4500m000) session.
Often, items are repacked for transportation. Items can be packed in more voluminous packing material for protection or they can be packed together in boxes, pallets, and so on.
For example, milk cartons are put on trays, sealed together, and put on pallets for transportation. To plan for the transportation of milk cartons, you must know the size of a pallet. For that purpose, pallets are defined as a unit in LN. In the current session, you could select pallet as a unit for the milk carton item and specify the dimensions of the pallet.
If you define a unit for an item and specify dimensions for the unit, the unit and the dimensions are defaulted to freight orders in which the item is listed. If you do not define a unit for an item, the item default data are defaulted to the freight orders. The default value 0.0000 in an item dimension field in the Dimensions group box means that this dimension is not available for load building or rough planning.

The item code of the item for which you define units and unit dimensions. Select a project code, if required, and an item code. The selection of an item is mandatory.
Note: Segmented item codes consist of a project-code segment and an item-base segment (the item code).You can define the item-code segmentation in the Item Code Segmentation (tcibd0500m000) session.

The unit that you define for the item.
- Height

The height of the unit that you define for the item.
- Width

The width of the unit that you define for the item.
- Length

The depth of the unit that you define for the item.
- Weight

The weight of the unit that you define for the item.
- Volume

The volume of the unit that you define for the item.
- Floor Space

The surface area of the unit that you define for the item.
- Pieces

The portion of the piece unit that is taken up by one item. For example, if the piece unit is a box that can contain 10 items, enter 0.1 Note that in such cases, a rounding factor for the piece unit must exist that allows fractions. The Units per Piece field shows the reverse proportion, that is, 10 instead of 0.1.
- Units per Piece

The proportion between the inventory unit of the item and the piece unit, which indicates how many items one piece unit can contain. For example, if the inventory unit is INV and the piece unit is LMT (loading metre), and the proportion between the inventory unit and the piece unit is 100, this field will show the following value: 100 INV/LMT, which means that the loading metre can contain 100 items.
