User profiles and authorization template

The user profile and authorization template data for a new user (populated from IFS) can be copied using the Copy to User option from the Actions menu in the User Profiles and Authorizations Template (tcmcs2160m000) and User Profiles and Authorizations Templates (tcmcs2560m000) sessions. You can create multiple user profiles and authorization data simultaneously.

A user sometimes requires multiple user profiles and authorization data based on the role and department. Possible scenarios:

  • A Project manager may require a Project User profile, Project User Settings, a Warehouse Profile to check stock levels and a Purchase User Profile to be able to make purchases,
  • A Payment clerk may require a Purchase User Profile to check purchase orders, Transactions Entry Defaults, User Tolerances for Writing off Payment and Currency Differences and Purchase Invoice Authorizations.

Search path to determine the template for user profile and authorization:

The application uses a search path to determine the template that can be used for the user profile and authorizations. The search path is based on Company, Department and Role.

The application first searches for a template that is defined for a combination of Department and Role. If not specified, the application selects the template defined for a Role. If not specified, the application selects the template defined for a Department.

If more than one template is available for a combination of Department and Role, the template is selected based on Priority. The priority with the lowest value is considered first.
