General tab (My Inventor Preferences)

Use this tab to set the preferences related to the PLM files, items and drawings that are downloaded to Inventor.

Preferences Description
Edit location The folder in which the files must be downloaded for editing in Inventor.
Use Inventor Project Location If this check box is selected, Edit/View Location is set to Inventor current project location.
View Location The folder in which the files must be downloaded for viewing in Inventor.

Preferences Description
Allow Link to Released Items If this check box is selected, a document can be linked to an item withReleased status.
File Name Uniqueness This option defines the uniqueness of the PLM file name. Possible options:
  • Unique per project
  • Unique across all projects
  • Duplicate file name is allowed
Disable actions on view files If this check box is selected, the files accessed from the integration query results using the Download Files from PLM option cannot be modified.
Note: This check box can be selected only if the location specified in theEdit Location is different from the location specified in the View Location.
Query Search Default This option defines how the integration query tool is accessed from the PLM menu in Inventor and determines the query objects. Possible values:
  • Item
  • Document
  • File
Save Additional Drawings If this check box is selected, the local editable drawing files of the editable or non-editable models of the current CAD structure are saved to PLM.
Download Additional Drawings If this check box is selected, the Download Files from PLM option can be used to download the related drawings of all the models in the current Document structure.
Save All iPart Instances If this check box is selected, all the instance files and the factory files are saved to PLM. If this check box is cleared, only the factory file is saved.
Search And Replace files from Content Center during Save If this check box is selected and the names of part and content center part are similar, part file is replaced with the Content Center file in the structure when saving the structure.
Warn user when the same item is linked to parent and child components If this check box is selected, a warning message is displayed that the same item is linked to parent and child components.
Show message on successful open If this check box is selected, a message is displayed after downloading (Edit or View) files from PLM.
Take Ownership during Edit File in Integration If this check box is selected, the ownership has to be taken for the files when executing the Edit File command. If this check box is cleared, the files can be edited without taking ownership.
Skip Mapping for RELEASED files during Download If this check box is selected, the integration does not perform the mapping for the files which are in the Released status in PLM during the download process.
Note: It is recommended to select this check box to improve the application performance during the download process.
Skip Meta Data comparison during Download If this check box is selected, the Download Manager does not indicate changes, if any, in the PLM data related to the Document/Item/File.
Warn for missing CheckIn specific modified mapping XML file If this check box is selected and the ModifiedMappingRulesForCheckIn.xml is not available in the %CFE_CLIENT_HOME% Toolkit directory, PLM warns that the file is missing.
Set CAD Instance Name as Item-ID If this check box is selected, PLM sets the name of the CAD instance as the item ID.
Allow reload of already opened files If the check box is selected, the open files can be replaced and reloaded.
Create separate BOM lines for component files linked to same item If this check box is selected, two different BOM lines are created in PLM for two different components (in an assembly) linked to the same item when the files are saved to PLM.
Create Document Object for Presentation File If this check box is selected, separate document object is created for the presentation file in PLM. If this check box is cleared, the presentation file is linked to the document associated with the drawing.
Allow PLM Operations on Non-Master LOD If this check box is selected, structures can be saved to PLM even if some files are suppressed in the structure.
Update items with "ERP Item Default Data" automatically If this check box is selected and the Create Documents Only check box is cleared, the integration sets the values of certain attributes based on the default ERP data (for the combination of Item_Type and Item_Group).
Note: This preference is applicable to items that are created for the file when the file is saved to PLM.
Show message on successful open If this check box is selected, a message is displayed when the files are successfully downloaded from PLM.
Detect BOM Quantity Errors If this check box is selected, errors in BOM quantities are reported when the file is saved in PLM.
Check In all Draft Objects in structure If this check box is selected, all the draft objects at all the levels of the structure are released during the Check In operation.
Treat DWG Files as Inventor Drawings If this check box is selected, DWG files saved to PLM during integration are considered as Autodesk Inventor files.
Retain Item-Drawing Links If this check box is selected, during Save the files to PLM, the existing Item drawing links of the model file are retained.
Download Neutral Files during Edit/View File in Integration If this check box is selected, Neutral files like PDF, BMP are downloaded along with the actual CAD files, during integration.
Rename Files to match File IDs If this check box is selected, Inventor files are renamed to the corresponding file IDs generated in PLM, after the files are Saved to PLM.
Default setting for Create New in Resolve File Dialog If this check box is selected, the Select all new check box in the Resolve File Identity dialog box is selected by default, and a new copy of an existing structure is generated in PLM.
Note: If this check box is cleared, the user must manually select the Select all new check box in the Resolve File Identity window/dialog box.
Disable BOM Creation/Modification during "Save" If this check box is selected, you cannot create or modify an existing BOM during the Save operation.
Warn when the model is different from PLM copy If this check box is selected, a warning message is displayed to check if the local file is the same as the copy in PLM, when the drawing file is saved in PLM.
Link to Existing Item in PLM If this check box is selected, the item ID is automatically linked to the existing item in case the item ID already exists in PLM.
