Item - Storage Conditions (whwmd1104m000)

Use this session to link storage conditions to an item or an item group.

Enter an item group and an item for which you want to define storage conditions. Then enter one or more storage conditions you want to link to the item or item group.

If you leave the Item field blank, you can define storage conditions for a whole item group.

Note: If you have started this session by zooming, you can only find and select a record. Storage conditions defined for an individual item are applied whether or not storage conditions have been defined for the item/group to which the item belongs.

Storage Condition

The storage condition code assigned to the item group/item. The storage condition determines whether to store certain items at a location.

Storage Condition Type

This field indicates whether the storage condition must be one of the following:

  • Present for Location
  • Absent for Location
  • Common

You must fill in this field for each storage condition assigned to:

  • An item
  • An item group
  • A warehouse
  • A location

When you generate and maintain inbound advice (and when you transfer inventory) the storage conditions of the item or item group are compared with those of the warehouse or the location. To this end, a number of check rules are used that are closely linked to the storage condition. Comparing storage conditions on the basis of these rules occurs from location/warehouse to item/item group, and vice versa. Which comparisons are made depends on the parameters recorded in the Warehouse Master Data Parameters (whwmd0100s000) session.

Mandatory

This check box indicates whether the conditions of the locations (or warehouses) must meet the storage conditions of the item (or item group).

If this check box is selected, LN reports when storage conditions are not met. You can select another location or warehouse for inbound movement or transhipment.

If this check box is cleared, LN also reports in interactive sessions when storage conditions are not met. If you clear this check box, however, you can still accept the warehouse or location.

You only compare storage conditions if the condition type is Present for Item or Absent for Item. Consequently, you cannot use this check box when the condition type is Common.

Note:
  • This check box only applies to interactive sessions for inbound advice or inventory transfers, because LN prevents you from deviating from a negative advice in noninteractive sessions.
  • In a noninteractive session, a negative advice is always binding after storage conditions have been checked. Regardless of the value of this check box, only positive advice is accepted.
