Processing project progress

You can use the Element Physical Progress (tpppc1550m000) session to specify the progress for a selected element. Consequently, the progress of all the cost types or cost objects linked to the element can also be updated. You can specify the progress either as quantities or as percentages. You can first select the Read in Elements option from the appropriate menu to read the project elements that you want to control and the budget quantities.

You can use the Generate Physical Progress by Element/Cost Object (tpppc1128m000) session to specify the progress of budget lines for each cost type linked to the selected element or the range of elements. You can use the Physical Progress by Element/Cost Type (tpppc1529m000) session to specify the progress of one or more budget lines for the cost type linked to the selected element. You can also use the Generate Physical Progress Master Data (tpppc1110m000)session to generate an empty progress line for each budget line of the selected elements. This reduces the effort of specifying the data in the Physical Progress (tpppc1821m000) sessions.

Note: Infor LN generates a progress line for the elements, in which the Physical Progress Level field is set to Element/Control Code and the Progress check box is selected in the Elements (tpptc1100m000) session.

You can use the Physical Progress (tpppc1821m000) sessions to select a session in which you maintain the progress of individual cost objects for an element. For example, you can generate the progress using the Generate Physical Progress by Element/Cost Object (tpppc1128m000) session and then use these Physical Progress (tpppc1821m000) sessions to specify the exceptions or modify the generated progress data:

  • Physical Progress by Element/Material (tpppc1520m000)
  • Physical Progress by Element/Labor (tpppc1522m000)
  • Physical Progress by Element/Equipment (tpppc1524m000)
  • Physical Progress by Element/Subcontracting (tpppc1526m000)
  • Physical Progress by Element/Sundry Cost (tpppc1500m000)

You can use the Activity Physical Progress (tpppc1560m000) session to maintain the progress of a selected activity. You can specify the progress either as quantities or as percentages. You must first select the Read in Activities from the appropriate menu to read the project activities that you want to control and the budget quantities. You can use the Generate Physical Progress by Activity/Cost Object (tpppc1148m000)session to maintain the progress of budget lines for each cost type linked to a selected activity or range of activities.

You can use the Physical Progress by Activity/Cost Type (tpppc1549m000)session to maintain the specific progress of one or more budget lines for the cost type linked to the selected activity. If an earned value method is used, the activity progress is also generated for the cost objects, and is used at the cost type level for performance measurement. You can also use the Generate Physical Progress Master Data (tpppc1110m000)session to generate an empty progress line for each budget line of the selected activities. This reduces the effort of specifying the progress in the Physical Progress sessions. You can use the Physical Progress sessions to access a related session wherein the progress of individual cost objects for an activity can be specified. For example, you can generate the progress using the Generate Physical Progress by Activity/Cost Object (tpppc1148m000)session and then use these Activity Physical Progress sessions to specify the exceptions or modify the generated progress data:

  • Physical Progress by Activity/Material (tpppc1540m000)
  • Physical Progress by Activity/Labor (tpppc1541m000)
  • Physical Progress by Activity/Equipment (tpppc1542m000)
  • Physical Progress by Activity/Subcontracting (tpppc1543m000)
  • Physical Progress by Activity/Sundry Cost (tpppc1544m000)

The progress of an extension is the degree of completion that is expressed in percentage. You can maintain the progress of an extension by cost type or by cost object. This is a two-step process:

  1. You can run the appropriate session to generate the progress lines for the selected extensions in the control budget. You can specify the progress percentage for each cost type. Consequently, the effort of specifying the actual progress is reduced.
  2. You can specify exceptions or corrections to the generated progress at the cost type or at the cost object/control code level in the appropriate sessions. As a result, a set of data is generated displaying the progress of the extensions in the control budget. You can use this data for project monitoring and forecasting.

You can use the Generate Physical Progress by Extension/Cost Object (tpppc1188m000) session to maintain the progress of budget lines for each cost type linked to a selected extension or range of extensions. You can use the Physical Progress by Extension/Cost Type (tpppc1589m000) session to maintain the specific progress of one or more budget lines based on the cost type linked to the selected extension. You can also use the Generate Physical Progress Master Data by Extension (tpppc1170m000) session to generate an empty progress line for each budget line linked to the selected extensions. This reduces the effort of specifying the progress in the Physical Progress by Extension/Labor (tpppc1582m000) session. You can use the Physical Progress by Extension/Labor (tpppc1582m000) session to select a session in which you can specify the progress of individual cost objects for an extension. For example, you can generate the progress in the Generate Physical Progress by Extension/Cost Object (tpppc1188m000) and then use the Physical Progress by Extension/Labor (tpppc1582m000) session to specify the exceptions or the modify the generated progress data. The Physical Progress by Extension sessions are:

  • Physical Progress by Extension/Material (tpppc1580m000)
  • Physical Progress by Extension/Labor (tpppc1582m000)
  • Physical Progress by Extension/Equipment (tpppc1584m000)
  • Physical Progress by Extension/Subcontracting (tpppc1586m000)
  • Physical Progress by Extension/Sundry Cost (tpppc1587m000)
