To use a search path

Project uses specific search paths to locate the values that are required for various processes.

LN uses a search path to default the labor rates. However, you can modify the priority settings to change the specified search path. By default, LN considers the search path in this order:

  • Priority 1
  • Priority 2
  • Priority 3
  • Priority 4

The search path is specified in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session. LN uses several search options to locate the labor rate. The search path used to default the labor rates for the budget lines is:

  • Project: Project-specific labor rates as specified in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session, are considered.
  • Task: Cost rate as specified in the Tasks (tppdm0511m000) and Project Tasks (tppdm6511m000) sessions, is considered
  • Employee: Labor rate specified for the employee as specified in the Employees - Project (tppdm8101m000) session, is considered.
  • Trade group: Labor rates specified for the trade groups in the Trade Group (tppdm0130s000) session, is considered. However, the labor rate is derived from the Labor Rate Codes (tcppl0190m000)

LN uses this search path to default: The options are:

  • the labor rates that are used to determine the labor cost rate for each hour.

  • the sales rate for each hour to be used in the labor lines. The path is specified in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session.

The options for the search path are:

  • Project: Project-specific labor rate as specified in the Projects (tppdm6100m000) session, is considered.
  • Task: Cost rate as specified in the Tasks (tppdm0511m000) and Project Tasks (tppdm6511m000) sessions, is considered.
  • Employee: Labor rate specified for the employee in the Employees - Project (tppdm8101m000) session, is considered.
  • Trade group: Labor rate specified for the trade groups in the Trade Group (tppdm0130s000) session, is considered.
  • Department: The labor rate specified for the department in the Project Management Offices (tppdm0110m000) session, is considered.
Note:
  • If the labor rate is determined using Priority 1, the search process is stopped.
  • If the labor rate is not determined using Priority 1, the labor rate is determined using the next priorities.
  • If you set the Priority 1 field to Task, the labor rates specified in the Tasks (tppdm0511m000) and Project Tasks (tppdm6511m000) sessions, is considered.
  • If the labor rate is not specified in the Tasks (tppdm0511m000) session, the labor rate specified in the search path for Priority 2 and so on, is considered.
