Purchase budgets

A typical actual budget contains cost objects with long purchase periods. Also, the quantities to be purchased can be uncertain. Waiting for this information can delay the project and increase the costs. You can use the Purchase Budget sessions to procure such cost objects before the project execution starts. You can create a purchase budget by specifying cost objects directly, or by copying the cost objects from the actual budget. You can purchase part quantities by specifying a percentage of the budgeted value. The purchase budget can be used to generate purchase orders. This budget does not affect the actual budget and is used to bypass the step-by-step process of project budgeting and execution.

The main purchase budget sessions are:

  • Purchase Budgets (tpptc4500m000): You can use this session to create a purchase budget and add the required cost objects.
  • Purchase Budget Parts (tpptc4510m000): You can use this session to copy the required elements or activities (and the associated cost objects) from the actual budget.
  • Purchase Budget Detail Lines (tpptc4520m000): You can this session to record the supplier, purchase price and status data for the cost objects of a selected purchase budget. This data is applicable only for material, equipment and subcontracting cost types. Approved lines can be transferred to procurement.
  • Generate Purchase Budgets (tpptc4200m000): You can use this session instead of Purchase Budget Detail Lines (tpptc4520m000) session, to generate a purchase budget for a selected range of projects, elements or activities.
  • Delete Purchase Budgets (tpptc4210m000): You can use this session to delete the data that is not required.
