Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0100s000)

Use this session to to define parameters for Assembly Planning.

Note:
  • If you started this session by double-clicking an existing parameter set in the Assembly Planning Parameters (tiapl0100s000) overview session, you can only view the values.
  • You can change values in this session, if you have the necessary authorization. If you change, then save the current set of parameters, the set is saved as a new set.
  • Changing parameters can have widespread effects throughout Assembly Planning. Do not change any value in this session until you know what the effects will be.

Field Information

Introduction Date

The date and time that the parameters are valid. The parameters are valid up to the effective date of a more recent parameter setting.

Text

If this check box is selected, text is present.

Engineering
Environment

The identification of the environment.

This parameter is used to distinguish between the assembly part requirements of multiple environments in the same company.

Is Master Company

If this check box is selected, your current company is defined as the master company. The master company can be one of the companies of the assembly line, or a separate company. The master company is used to store master data, such as product variants, BOM quantity, and so on.

If this check box is cleared, the fields in this session are disabled.

Note:
  • You can only maintain data and run processes if you work in the master company. This applies both to Assembly Control , where you define the assembly line structure, and to Assembly Planning. In Assembly Planning, one exception exists: the Configurable Item - Assembly Line (tiapl2500m000) session.
  • You can only select this check box if no assembly orders are present in this company.
  • You can only clear this check box if no product variants are present in this company.
External Assembly Parts and Operations

If this check box is selected, an external source delivers the flattened assembly parts and operations to Assembly Planning.

If this check box is cleared, the assembly parts and operations are flattened during the calculation of the assembly part requirements.

Configuration
Product Variant Number Group

The number group that is used to generate product variant numbers, which are used in the Generate Product Variant Structures (tiapl3210m000) process.

The following conditions apply to the number group you select:

  • The series must not already be in use.
  • The series length must be zero.
  • The number group must not already be in use.
  • The number group must be dedicated to production.
  • The first free number must be greater than the highest product variant number.

Configurator

If this check box is selected, one of the configuration scenarios is implemented. The assembly items can be configured by choosing options by either the CPQ Configurator or the Product Configuration (PCF) configurator.

If this check box is cleared, generic items with order system FAS are configured in the Assembly Planning module. You cannot use options and features to configure the item, but you can use unit effectivity.

Allow Reconfiguration if Orders are Frozen

If this check box is selected, purchased configurable items can be reconfigured when the Assembly Order Status is Created or Sequenced. The purchase configurable items can be reconfigured in the product variant, even if the Assembly Order Status is Frozen.

Note:

This option is only available if the Product Configurator (PCF) check box is selected in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session.

The item can be reconfigured, only when the line station orders which have the item as an assembly part are not started.

Sell Multiples of Same Configuration

If this check box is selected, you can enter an assembly item on a sales order line with an order quantity greater than one.

The entire quantity of the order line will be of the same product variant. If the order quantity on the sales order line is greater than one, LN uses multiple assembly orders to produce the items, because an assembly order always has an order quantity of one (1).

External Product Variant Structure

If this check box is selected, you must load the generic BOM with relations between the generic end items and the engineering module to Assembly Planning from an external source.

If this check box is cleared, the generic BOM relations between the generic end item and the engineering modules are copied from the Generic Assembly Bill of Material (Assembly) (tiapl2510m000) session to the order-specific BOM when you run the Generate Product Variant Structures (tiapl3210m000) session.

Note:

The CPQ Configurator is not classified as an external application.

The product variant structure defines two types of relations:

  • The relation between generic items and generic sub-items. These relations are always copied when the product variant structure is created, which is upon order entry, when the created product variant is saved. Note that these relations can occur on several levels, not only directly below the end item.
  • The relation between generic items and engineering modules. Only these relations are affected by the current parameter.

Refer to the Help on the following sessions for more information on the generic BOM and the order-specific BOM:

  • Product Variant Structures (tiapl3510m000)

The following procedures can also solve the product variant structures for engineering modules, when they require these product variant structures:

  • Calculate Assembly Part Requirements (tiapl2221m000)
  • Generate Assembly Orders (tiapl3201m000)
  • Refresh and Freeze Assembly Orders (tiapl3203m000)
Demand Horizon

The number of days for which the product variant structure is determined, and the assembly part requirements are calculated.

Assembly Parts Requirements Directory

The directory to which the files are written that are the result of calculating the assembly part requirements for product variants in the Company - Bus Component (tiapl0101s000) session.

Note: If working in the cloud, you cannot specify the log path for the directory manually.

The files that are stored in this directory are read by Enterprise Planning .

Allow Assembly Orders for unsold Product Variants

If this check box is selected, and an assembly order with a status other than Closed is available for a product variant, the product variant can be unlinked on the sales order/quotation line.

If this check box is cleared, and an assembly order is available for a product variant, the product variant cannot be unlinked on the sales order/quotation line.

Note: If a product variant is unlinked, only the reference to the sales order/quotation is removed. The product variant can be reused by another sales order/quotation.

Forecasting
Forecasting

If this check box is selected, demand forecasting is active for assembly.

Families

If this check box is selected, assembly forecast can be defined by product family levels. To aggregate or dis-aggregate assembly forecast, family structure rules must be defined.

Note:
  • By default, this check box is cleared.
  • This check box is enabled only if Job Shop by Site is set to Active in the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session .
Channels

If this check box is selected, assembly forecast can be defined by channels.

Note:
  • By default, this check box is cleared.
  • This check box is enabled only if the Forecasting check box is selected.
Forecast Period Length

The period up to which the forecast must be displayed for the analysis.

Allowed values

Undefined
1 Week
2 Weeks
4 Weeks
Not Applicable
Note:
  • By default, this field is set to Not Applicable.
  • The can set this field to 1 Week 2 Weeks, and 4 Weeks only if the Forecasting check box is selected.
Leveling Horizon

The date up to which manufacture is distributed over the available production capacity to balance the sequence.

Forecast Freeze Time Fence

The date from which the demand forecast for production orders is ignored. After the specified date, LN expects to receive no more production orders than already present.

Forecast Demand Date Based On

The forecast is based on the:

Allowed values

  • Period Start Date
  • Period End Date
  • Not Applicable
Update Pegging Relations

If this check box is selected, LN also calculates the pegging relations. If this check box is cleared, LN deletes all existing pegging relations.

You can view the pegging relations in the Browse Order Pegging (cprrp0740m000) session.

Miscellaneous Data
Test Mode

If this check box is selected, the Assembly Planning module operates in test mode. In test mode, you can maintain data that is otherwise maintained by external packages.

If the External Assembly Parts and Operations check box is selected, the following data is maintained externally:

  • Operations, displayed in the Operations (tiapl1500m000) session
  • Operation assignments, displayed in the Operation Assignments (tiapl1510m000) session

If the External Product Variant Structure check box is selected, the following data is maintained externally:

  • Product variant structures, displayed in the Product Variant Structures (tiapl3510m000) session

In these cases, you cannot maintain this data from within LN, unless you operate in test mode.

Further more, when Test Mode check box is selected:

  • You can also run the Actualize Assembly Line Costing Data (ticpr0215m000) session for a manually chosen effective date.
  • You can maintain exchangeable configurations manually in the Line Segment - Exchangeable Configurations (tiasl2530m000) session.
