Instruments (qmptc0108m000)

Use this session to display instruments that will be used to test items for specific characteristic.

In the details session, you can create and/or maintain instruments.

Field Information

Instrument

instrument

Instrument Number

The number of the instrument that can be used to trace the instrument.

Description

The description or name of the code.

Instrument Group

The code of the instrument group. The group of instruments with similar characteristics.

Least Measurable Quantity Unit

The unit in which the least measurable value is expressed.

The physical unit of the least measurable unit must be the same as that of the characteristic unit of the characteristic for which this instrument is used.

Example

A micrometer screw gauge.

A micrometer screw gauge can measure with an exactness of 10 micrometers. Thus, micrometer can be entered in the Least Measurable Quantity Unit field and 10 in the Least Measurable Quantity field.

Least Measurable Quantity

The degree of exactness to which the instrument can measure.

Example

A micrometer screw gauge.

A micrometer screw gauge can measure with an exactness of 10 micrometers. Thus, 'micrometer' can be entered in the Least Measurable Quantity Unit field and 10 in the Least Measurable Quantity field.

Interval Type

calibration interval

Interval [Days/Times Used]

Indicates when the calibration takes place.

If you entered Time in the Interval Type field, type in the number of days.

If you entered Number of Times Used in the Interval Type field, type in the number of times used.

Blocked for Calibration

If this check box is selected, you block the instrument for calibration. A blocked instrument cannot be used for inspections.

An instrument is automatically blocked when it is selected for calibration in the Calibrate Instruments (qmptc3201m000) session. No calibration-related data can be maintained when an instrument is blocked.

An instrument can be unblocked in the Instrument Calibration Dates (qmptc3202m000) session.

Last Calibration Date

The last time the instrument was calibrated.

Next Calibration Date

The date of the next calibration of the instrument.

This field only applies if you entered Time in the Interval Type field.

Next Calibration Date = Last Calibration Date+ Interval [Days/Times Used]

or

Next Calibration Date = current date + Interval [Days/Times Used]

Next Calibration [Times Used]

Indicates the number of times the instrument can be used before the next calibration.

This field only applies if Number of Times Used is entered in the Interval Type field.

Next Calibration [Times Used] = interval - Actual Times Used

Actual Times Used

The number of times or the number of days the instrument is used for testing since the last calibration.

Note: The value of this field is influenced by the Inspection Order Test Data (qmptc1115m000) and Instrument Calibration Dates (qmptc3202m000) sessions.
