Mappings tab (My Inventor Preferences)

Use this tab to set the preferences for:

  • Controlling the transfer of balloon numbers from Inventor to the part list in PLM.
  • Assigning the Mapping template to Inventor files.
Table 1. Default Mapping Template
Preferences Description
Assign Default Mapping Template Only for the new files If this check box is selected, Mapping template can be associated only with the new Inventor files.
Default mapping template for part files The code of the mapping template used as the default for part files.
Default mapping template for Assembly files The code of the mapping template used as the default for Assembly files.
Default mapping template for Drawing files The code of the mapping template used as the default for Drawing files.

Preferences Description
Transfer Ballooning Information If this check box is selected, you can transfer the Ballooning information from CAD files to PLM.
Field in Part List table The target field in PLM Part List/BOM table to which the Balloon information must be transferred. This field name must match the database field name.
Warn for duplicate Balloon IDs If this check box is selected, a warning message is displayed when the Balloon ID is the same for two child items linked to the same parent item.
Warn for incorrect Ballooning If this check box is selected, a warning message is displayed when the Ballooning is not properly performed for the child components of a parent item.
Warn for incomplete Ballooning If this check box is selected, a warning message is displayed when the Ballooning is not completed for the child components of a parent item.
Read balloon numbers from Assembly BOM table If this check box is selected, Balloon numbers from Assembly BOM are considered instead of Balloon numbers from the drawing sheet.
