Using jobs

In most sessions that start a lengthy process, such as generating orders or printing a report, you can click Add to Job to run the process as a job.

You can use a job to run a session or a sequence of sessions at a predefined time, repeatedly at specific times, or periodically.

If a process runs as a job, you can continue working. Jobs can also be executed while you are not logged on to LN.

Use jobs to carry out tasks that require many system resources during quiet times. For example, you can schedule processing and printing jobs to run after office hours to improve the system performance during the day.

Note: Jobs can also include shell scripts.

Using a job consists of these steps:

  1. Defining a job
  2. Adding a session to a job
  3. Defining a job calendar
  4. Running a job
