Import Data (on a Regular Basis) (daxch0224m000)

Use this session to run the import program to transfer data on a regular basis from sequential ASCII files to LN tables.

An import on a regular basis is especially useful in a multisite environment. In these situations it is important that no run is lost, imported twice or imported in the incorrect order.

Note: The import can also run as part of a batch job.

You can click Add to Job to start the Job Manager.

Field Information

Exchange Scheme

The exchange scheme code.

Note: The exchange scheme is created in the Exchange Schemes (daxch0501m000) session.
Exchange Scheme

exchange scheme

Note: The exchange scheme is created in the Exchange Schemes (daxch0501m000) session.
Processing Type

The processing type of the import procedure.

Allowed values

New run

Use this option to start a new exchange program

Restart previous run

Use this option to restart the previous runnumber

Reprocess rejected rec's

Use this option to reprocess rejected records. LN stores the rejected records in additional files:

  • Rejected Due to Error. This file contains records that are rejected because of database related problems such as index or domain errors.
  • Rejected Due to condition. This file contains records that are rejected because return values of conditions return as false.

This option can not be used if the exchange is based on an audit procedure.

Note: The option Reprocess rejected records can only be used during an import procedure.
Continue interrupted run

Use this option to continue an interrupted exchange program. The program starts at the beginning of the table relation that was not completed. You can only restart the import if more than one batch line exists. The restart can begin at the start of an incomplete batch line. If only one batch line exists, this option is the same as a complete restart.

Reprocess Records Rejected due to Errors

If this check box is selected, records that are rejected due to errors in the previous import run are processed again.

This check box can only be selected if the processing type is reprocess rejected records.

Reprocess Records Rejected due to Conditions

If this check box is selected, records that are rejected due to conditions in the previous import run are processed again.

This check box can only be selected if the processing type is reprocess rejected records.

Overrule Batch Company

If this check box is selected, the batch companies that are defined in the Batches (daxch0104m000) session are overruled.

Overrule Batch Company

The LN company that is used instead of the batch company.

This field can only be defined if the Overrule Batch Company check box is selected.

Really Quit on Stop Condition

If this check box is selected, an import program cannot continue if it is stopped. This is because the return value of a stop condition is true.

If this check box is cleared, the exchange process will not stop if a stop condition returns true. Instead, a log message will be written to the log file.

The stop condition is defined in the Table Relations (Import) (daxch0121s000) session.

Wait for <CR> with Messages

If this check box is selected, the import program waits for a <CR> at the end of the messages.

If this check box is cleared, the import program continues without any interaction from you. This option can be used during an import that runs throughout the night.

Ignore Batches to Import

If this check box is selected, the batches in the exchange scheme are ignored during the import procedure.

This option can be used to test or run the import without using data that is waiting to be imported at the export site.

If this check box is cleared, and an active exchange link exists for a batch, that batch will only run if there is data waiting to be imported. For example, if there is no batch to import.

Note: This check box is only relevant if multisite control is used, and the batch is used in one or more exchange links.
Uncompress ASCII Files

If this check box is selected, compressed ASCII files are restored to their original format before the import procedure.

Note: Only use this option if the ASCII files that will be imported are compressed using the LN compression program.
Runnumber to be Imported/Redone

The run number of the exchange scheme that is imported or redone.
