Areas (dmdoc5120m000)

Use this session to view and maintain areas for storing files. The area is a directory that the Document Management module recognizes, and uses to store registered files.

If you create a new area, you must specify the host, type of area, and full local path for the area.

Note: You must ensure that the areas in a single company and the areas for various companies, such as databases, do not overlap.

Area

The area identifier.

Dynamic Host

If this check box is selected, LN automatically picks the IP address of the host at runtime.

User

The user ID of the current user.

Host

The identifier of the host on which the area resides. Click the browse arrow to start the Hosts (dmdoc5500m000) session and select the desired host.

Area Type

The area types. Two area types exist, namely, work and vault. The work area is used to store the files attached to a document revision before the revision is released. The user can edit the files in the work area. You can use the vault area to store the files attached to a document revision after the revision is released. After a document revision is released, all the files attached to that revision are moved from the work area to the appropriate vault area for that document. Files stored in the vault area are read-only.

Path

To create a new area, you must enter the full local path of the directory for the area. Select choose directory to specify the desired directory on the local computer.
