Other Preferences tab (My SolidWorks Preferences)

Use this tab to set the preferences for:

  • Controlling the PLM objects of a SolidWorks file that can be attached to the business process.
  • Renaming SolidWorks files.
  • Troubleshooting.
Table 1. Attached to Workflow
Preferences Description
Attached to Business Process The PLM objects of a SolidWorks file that can be attached to the business process. Possible values:
  • Documents Only
  • Items Only
  • Both
Attach related Models/Drawings If this check box is selected, the PLM objects (items, documents) of the Models or Drawings associated with the SolidWorks file are attached to the business process.
Note: The objects are attached based on the value set in the Attached to Business Process field.
Attach all related objects If this check box is selected, the PLM objects (items, documents) of all the components in CAD structure, of a SolidWorks file are attached to the business process.
Note: The objects are attached based on the value set in the Attached to Business Process field.
Action for objects locked by Business Process The action that must be taken if one or more objects are locked by another business process. Possible values:
  • Attached as unlocked: The object is unlocked before being attached to the business process.
  • Do not attach: The objects that are locked are not considered for dispatch.
  • Cancel action: The dispatch operation is canceled.
Attach Draft Objects Only If this check box is selected, only the draft objects (items/documents) are attached to the business process.
Attach all Items If this check box is selected, all items linked to the document are considered for dispatch.
Note: If this check box is cleared, only the default item is considered for dispatch.

Preferences Description
Part template The full path of the Solidworks template file.
Assembly template The full path of the Solidworks template file.
Note: The Solidworks files are created based on the item structure in PLM. The last level items are created as Solidworks Parts and all other items are created as Solidworks Assembly files. The final Solidworks files are generated as part of the Top Download process, using these template files.
Table 3. Rename Files
Preferences Description
Rename file in PLM on File - Save As operation If this check box is selected and a file exists in PLM, during the Save As operation, the file is renamed automatically in PLM.
Allow operations on previous revisions If this check box is selected, you can rename and/or correct the file references of the previous revisions for a file. By default, the integration allows you to rename and upload the latest revision of a files.

Preferences Description
Generate Log files If this check box is selected, log files are generated.
Verify Dependency Mismatch If this check box is selected the dependency mismatch of the current file is verified when the file is saved in PLM.
