Perform Inventory Valuation (whina1210m000)

Use this session to perform an inventory valuation for a range of items.

Note:
  • The value of the inventory is determined by its current inventory-valuation method.
  • You can compare the inventory value with the fixed transfer price, moving-average unit cost, market value, or average purchase price.

Allowed values

Current Date

The date for which the valuation is calculated and/or actualized is the current date.

Last Date of Previous Period

The date for which the valuation is calculated and actualized is the last date of the previous financial period of the financial company linked to the warehouse for which the valuation is performed.

The warehouse for which the valuation is performed and the linked financial company can be located in different time zones. Select this option to ensure that the inventory transactions included in the valuation fall within the previous financial period of the financial company.

For example, an inventory transaction created at 8/31/2014 11:45 PM falls in financial period August if the warehouse where the transaction is performed and the financial company are located in the same time zone. If the financial company is located in a time zone where the time is one hour ahead, the inventory transaction is posted in financial period September.

Specific Date

The date for which the valuation is calculated and actualized is a date in the past, which you can enter in the Specific Date field.

Inventory WIP

Standard costs are determined by enterprise unit if:

  • On the Enterprise Structures tab of the Implemented Software Components (tccom0100s000) session, the Standard Cost by Enterprise Unit field is set to Active. See Overview of the multisite concepts.
  • In the Items (tcibd0501m000) session, the Standard Costs at Level field is set to Enterprise Unit, except for archive companies.

If this check box is cleared, only headers and total lines are printed, which means that the inventory on hand and the inventory in transit are aggregated.

Regular

If this check box is selected, inventory on hand is also taken into account. The lines with on-hand quantities will be printed with separate columns for amounts per ownership and for the inventory WIP amount.

To perform a valuation of inventory in transit only, leave this check box cleared.

Quarantine (not finished products or not payable inventory)

If this check box is selected, items in quarantine are printed and displayed separately on the report. These items are not processed in quarantine. Quarantine inventory is excluded from inventory valuations.

The quarantined items are rejected and sent to quarantine during production or inbound or outbound inspection.

  • Production

Manufactured items. Typically, these are unfinished end items.

  • Inspection

Purchased items. The Payable to Supplier check box in the Inventory Handling Parameters (whinh0100m000) session is selected.

Quarantine inventory represents a lower inventory value than inventory outside quarantine. Therefore, to avoid the impact of quarantined items on the inventory value, these items are excluded from inventory valuations such as MAUC, FIFO, or LIFO.
