To use cost- and purchase prices for non-labor cost objects

In determining the prices of non-labor cost objects to be inserted on budget lines, Project follows the search paths described here. For standard cost:

  • The unit cost as defined for the project-specific cost object.
  • If this price is not available, Project takes the unit cost of the standard cost object from which the project-related cost object is derived.
  • If this price is not available, Project takes the purchase price of the cost object (see For Purchase Prices below).

For purchase prices:

  • The purchase price as defined for the project-specific cost object.
  • If that price is not available, Project takes the purchase price of the standard cost object from which the project-specific cost object is derived.
Note: The price policy of a cost object determines whether its unit cost or its purchase price appears by default on the budget lines.
