Adding and exploding phantoms in a production order

If desired, you can manually add phantoms to an existing production order, in the same way as you can add extra material to an existing production order. The phantom’s material is exploded and included in the production order’s estimated material.

You must decide beforehand whether inventory is available for the added phantom, or that you must produce the phantom in the production order. If a phantom is on stock, click the New button in the Material to Issue for Production Orders (ticst0101m100) session or the Estimated Materials (ticst0101m000) session to add the phantom as a material for the production order. If the phantom is not on stock, carry out the following steps to add a phantom to an existing production order:

  1. Start the Material to Issue for Production Orders (ticst0101m100) session or the Estimated Materials (ticst0101m000) session. Find the production order for which you want to add and explode a phantom.
  2. In the appropriate menu, click Add/Explode Phantom. You can now enter the phantom.
  3. Enter the item that you want to add as a phantom in the Item field. The phantom must be a manufactured item.
  4. Enter the quantity of the phantom.
  5. Enter the routing operation for which the phantom is required in the Operation field. You are not allowed to link the phantom to an operation which is started already
  6. Save the phantom. The phantom material is exploded, which you can view in the Material to Issue for Production Orders (ticst0101m100) session and the Estimated Materials (ticst0101m000) session. Note that a phantom can contain its own phantom(s), which are also exploded. The phantom’s routing operations are added to production planning and linked to the operation that you entered in the Operation field.

Adding a phantom to a production order may impact the production planning, and, if the phantom is not on stock, the materials. Also the costs for the production order may change. If the estimated costs are not froozen yet, the new costs are added to the production order’s estimated costs. If the estimated costs for the production order are already frozen, the costs for the phantom are not included in the production order’s estimated costs but expressed in the production orders’ variance.
